Abstract

After a brief discussion of Hong Kong's colonial period, the author explores its constitutional journey from British crown colony to Special Adminstrative Region (SAR) of the PRC and Hong Kong's long decolonization process. He discusses the establishment of "one country two systems" in the Sino-British Joint Declaration and the Basic Law for Hong Kong promulgated by the National People's Congress of the PRC in April 1990.
