The specialised information service for Political Science - POLLUX - offers political scientists and students references of printed political science literature. Furthermore, POLLUX provides direct access to electronic publications. We would like to show in this short film, what POLLUX exactly is and how it works.

A big thank you to everyone who took part in our online survey! It was completed on 28.6.2020 with 279 participants.

We are now starting the evaluation and are curious about the results, which we will publish later.

POLLUX was created for the political science community and we need your input. Community feedback is the best way for us to know what is missing, what needs improvement and which areas are good. We prepared a short survey (10-15 minutes) to better understand the needs of the community and what our strengths and weaknesses are.

You can filter your search results by electronic media. Printed media will not be displayed with this filter.

We have enormously expanded POLLUX in the segment of book publications, integrating the contents of neighbouring disciplines (e.g. economics, public law, contemporary history, sociology etc.). In this way we take into account the inter- or transdisciplinary working methods of the political science community. As a basis for the extension, we have filtered all relevant titles from many metadata sources. The extension is now being carried out step by step for journal publications, contributions to collective works and Open Access publications. Our aim is to provide you with preferably all the literature you need for your research.

In POLLUX you will no longer find only titles that you can either access directly electronically or that can be ordered via the delivery service Subito. Titles that are available in Germany and that you can order via the interlibrary loan service of your home library are now also displayed. If interlibrary loan is not available, you can contact the owning library directly.

Corona note: Please note that due to the Corona pandemic many libraries have been closed and the interlibrary loan service is therefore suspended at some libraries.

The journal "Totalitarismus und Demokratieforschung" from HAIT is now published with financial support from POLLUX by Vandenhoek and Ruprecht Open Access! To ensure free access for all readers in the long term, it is important that existing subscriptions are continued ("subscribe to open" model)

The licenses for e-book packages of the following publishers will expire soon and cannot be renewed due to lack of financial resources:

The e-books of these publishers are nevertheless still included in POLLUX. Occasionally delays may occur due to embargos.

The next advanced training course of the Association of German Librarians (VDB) for subject specialists of the social sciences will take place in Cologne on 22-23 April 2020.

The main focus will be on: the Specialised Information Services (FID) political science and sociology, new trends in sociological research and the handling of social science data.

The training is organized by the FID Sociology (https://www.sociohub-fid.de ) in cooperation with the FID Political Science (https://www.pollux-fid.de).

As of now, authors have a quick and easy possibility to make an article listed in POLLUX available as a secondary publication (Open Access). We collaborate with the Social Science Open Access Repository (SSOAR) - a full-text server maintained by GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences, which increases the long-term visibility of your publication on the web in the best possible way.

POLLUX supports the Open Access transformation of the Palgrave-Macmillan series "Global Dynamics of Social Policy" of CRC 1342.

Good news for the new year: The transcript Open Library for Political Science can also be realized in 2020. This means that the transcript Frontlist political science 2020 will be available via Open Access. It's great to see that besides POLLUX so many libraries participate in the financing and thus make an important contribution to the OA-transformation.
