Abstract

Seit Beginn der 1990er Jahre verfolgt Ägypten eine strikte Politik der Stabilisierung und strukturellen Anpassung, die zu wichtigen Reformen geführt hat. Einem rigiden Zentralismus zum Trotz sind auch auf lokaler Ebene Innovationen möglich. Im Gegensatz zur Entwicklung des privaten Sektors ist der öffentliche Sektor jedoch noch schwach. Dies trifft vor allem auf die öffentliche Verwaltung zu. Der Verfasser beschreibt aktuelle Bemühungen um eine Verwaltungsreform in Ägypten. (ICEÜbers)
