Further Electrical and Electronic Principles is a core text for pre-degree courses in electrical and electronic engineering courses. The coverage of this new edition has been brought in line with the specialist unit 'Further Electrical Principles' of the 2007 BTEC National Engineering specification from Edexcel. As the book follows a logical topic progression rather than a particular syllabus, it is also suitable for other Level 3 students on vocational courses such as Vocational AS/A Level, City & Guilds courses and NVQs. More advanced material has also been included, making this text also sui.
The essential need for security is apparent to organizations, government and individuals. Whether it is to secure a company's assets, abide by a law, or guard an individual's privacy, it has become evident that all are vulnerable to one form of electronic attack or another and that in order to protect sensitive information, all possible security precautions must be taken to limit any form of authorized access to electronic records or computer-related equipment. In this security-conscious era, we spend huge sums on technology to protect our computer networks and data. As IT security spending has increased so also has the number of successful attacks. This paper has been developed to highlight the fact that we all have an 'electronic life' which is been hunted by social engineers, and provides a solution on how this life can be protected. The purpose is to provide organizations and individual a simple solution for increasing security awareness against social engineering attacks towards their critical information. Keywords: Social Engineering, Electronic Life, Human Factor, Hacking, Information Security, Security Policy, Identity Theft

This book equips readers with a thorough understanding of the applicability of new-generation silicon-germanium (SiGe) electronic subsystems for the military purposes of electronic warfare and defensive countermeasures. The theoretical and technical background is extensively explained and all aspects of the integration of SiGe as an enabling technology for maritime, land, and airborne (including space) electronic warfare are addressed, including research, design, development, and implementation. The coverage is supported by mathematical derivations, informative illustrations, practical examples, and case studies. While SiGe technology provides speed, performance, and price advantages in many markets, sharing of information on its use in electronic warfare systems has to date been limited, especially in developing nations. This book will therefore be warmly welcomed as an engineering guideline that focuses especially on the speed and reliability of current-generation SiGe circuits and highlights emerging innovations that will help to ensure the sustainable long-term integration of SiGe into electronic warfare.

The aim of this article is to show how electronic commerce can fundamentally change the inter‐organisational processes at the interface between the buyer and supplier. It will be shown how electronic commerce is not only enabling the redesign of internal organisational processes but is extended into both the buyer and supplier organisations. Three case studies are presented outlining how various electronic commerce technologies have been implemented in a number of buyer supplier environments. These case studies illustrate the benefits that organisations can achieve through the effective implementation of electronic commerce technologies such as electronic data interchange (EDI) and the Internet. It is also shown how in many instances electronic commerce is radically changing the way in which organisations have traditionally traded.

; Due to the change of the paradigm of current markets, resulting from the phenomenon of globalization, organizations are forced to streamline their business, in order to be able to maintain their competitiveness and ensure a favorable market position. To achieve such agility, their processes need to be less time consuming and more effortless, so they can focus on what really matters: value creation.Certifications are a formal recognition of an organization that will provide guidance and tools for those who want to ensure that their products and services consistently meet customer's requirements, and that quality is consistently improved. However useful for the organization, the evaluation for certification takes too much effort and time. For example, the SCAMPI method takes a significant effort, being in some cases a very painful and expensive process. SCAMPI is the Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement, the evaluation method of CMMI model. CMMI is a model for organizations to improve their processes and is required by many U.S. Government contracts, especially in software development. SCRAIM is the tool that is going to provide us the background and the base to work and simplify those kind of evaluations in order to save time and money. The main goal is to develop a group of methodologies, techniques and tools integrated in the SCRAIM interface, that will make evaluations and certain parts of certifications easier and less painful for the SCRAIM users.Although there are a number of life cycle and project management tools, few combine this with process management techniques. SCRAIM combines the two and will provide the users new features that will semi- automate the assessment for certification of an organization. The full automated process is not yet feasible, so human intervention is still mandatory. With the use of SCRAIM, good practices will be followed and in the end the generated information will facilitate the decision making process. We can see many advantages of this innovation, and we believe that the application of this innovation will help reducing the costs and time of one evaluation using the SCAMPI method.

Summarization: Greece is a small country with 11 million inhabitants. Microwave education is provided by universities on 5-year programs and Technological Educational Institutes (TEIs) on 4-year programs. This paper describes microwave engineering education within the Departments of Electronic Engineering (DoEEs) in TEIs, and especially within the one of TEI of Crete. After a short description of the electronic engineering education programs, the paper emphasizes on the present situation in microwave courses, which are evolving due to rapid changes in engineering practice. Factors, such as the knowledge explosion, the technological developments, the globalisation, the national and international competition, and the military and industrial infrastructure renewal, are responsible for a major shift in microwave and antenna education. Being determined to stop electronic engineering students from facing upon microwaves just as a difficult, theoretically demanding, and complex mathematics requiring topic, we have used modern computer modelling, simulation, and animation tools, in order to transform abstract electromagnetic-field theory into realistic images on screen. ; Παρουσιάστηκε στο: 8th International Conference "New Horizons in Industry, Business and Education

This paper first describes the applications of digital signal processors in software radio, speech compression coding, modems and GPS systems, demonstrating the versatility of digital signal processors in practical communication systems. Next, digital signal processing oriented electronic communication practices are presented in the system design section to design high performance communication systems for specific communication needs and environmental conditions. The digital signal processing platform used in the platform architecture is optimized for signal processing and data transmission. The BER is 0.008% when the signal-to-noise ratio is -10 dB. The time complexity of digital signal processing is 7.2 ms when the number of communication nodes is 1000. It shows that digital signal processing oriented electronic communication engineering is important for improving the performance, reliability and efficiency of communication systems.
