Welchen Stellenwert besaß die Kulturpolitik im Rahmen der britischen Deutschlandpolitik nach 1945 und welche Funktionen erfüllte sie? Mit diesen zentralen Fragen setzt sich die Autorin eindringlich auseinander und gelangt anhand der Auswertung britischer Quellen zur Deutschlandpolitik und einer detaillierten Analyse britischer Kulturprogramme für Deutschland zu neuen Ergebnissen. Eingehend werden das kulturelle Deutschlandbild Großbritanniens, das kulturelle Selbstverständnis der Briten und dessen Herausforderungen, insbesondere durch den Machtverfall Großbritanniens als Großmacht im 20. Jahrhundert, untersucht und die Auswirkungen dieser verschiedenen Faktoren auf die Gestaltung der Kulturpolitik gezeigt.

Der Aufsatz analysiert die politische Ideenwelt des Rechtskatholizismus in Deutschland zwischen den beiden Weltkriegen. Im Mittelpunkt der Untersuchung stehen die Publikationen des führenden Vertreters der Rechtskatholiken M. Spahn. Das ablehnende Verhältnis der Rechtskatholiken zur Zentrumspartei wird dargestellt sowie ihre Organisation in der Deutschnationalen Volkspartei und verschiedenen außerparlamentarischen Organisationen. Abschließend wird das Verhältnis zwischen Rechtskatholizismus und Nationalsozialismus untersucht. Die Verfasserin kommt zu dem Ergebnis, daß Rechtskatholizismus und Nationalsozialismus nicht gleichgestellt werden können, die rechtskatholischen Ideen jedoch durch ihre antidemokratische Grundhaltung zur Zerstörung der Weimarer Republik beigetragen und Hemmschwellen gegenüber der nationalsozialistischen Ideologie abgebaut haben.
