En aquest treball es busca analitzar la qüestió de la investigació responsable a partir de les condicionats culturals i econòmiques que, en la modernitat, configuren el desenvolupament tècnic. Tenint en compte la raó instrumental que predomina en la visió moderna del món i la institució del lliure-mercat que condiciona les seves pràctiques econòmiques, s'analitza com en la societat actual emergeix una noció de les pràctiques tecnocientífiques desvinculades de la responsabilitat personal quant als seus possibles efectes. Per efecte de la ideologia del liberalisme econòmic i polític, es consolida així una concepció de la tècnica que la separa de l'ètica, dissociant les enginyeries de les humanitats. Taking into account the prevailing instrumental wordlview and the establishment of the tree market that conditions economic practices, the article analyses the emergence of technoscientific practices dissociated from personal responsability in terms of their possible consequences on today's society. Because of political and ideological liberalism, a concept of a technology totally unbound by ethics has been consolidated, thus dissociating engineering from the humanities. El nostre desenvolupament econòmic es sustenta gràcies a unes activitats que generen riquesa, però també provoquen impactes ambientals en utilitzar recursos naturals molts dels quals no es poden renovar i estan en vies d'esgotament. Technology and innovation play important roles in the approaches to sustainability related problems. An increasing number of companies find Sustainable Development (SD) important; this is mainly due to the growing attention from politics and society. Exchanging of new knowledge and insight is therefore important. Daily practice proves that it is difficult for (small and medium sized) companies to regularly make time to transfer knowledge internally. Therefore it is necessary for companies to have a practical approach on improving the level of knowledge of Sustainable Technological Innovation (STI) within the organisation. Microteaching STI offers a flexible and activating approach focussed on stimulating feedback, coupled on various learning styles and participants. In series of meetings of 15 to 30 minutes, related topics will be taught. The choice of topics covered will be determined by the knowledge requirements of both the employees and the company. The approach is developed and tested in collaboration with six companies in the Netherlands, Delft University of Technology and partners involved in training and Sustainable Development: Innovaders Amsterdam, in corporation with Beco Rotterdam. Learning goals of both participants and company are discussed. Mind maps have been used to indicate the attitude of the companies towards Sustainable Development. Brainstorm meetings with all partners and 'learning by doing' have resulted in a format to support an active learning approach. Other focus points are: Training of the (internal) trainer, choosing the correct active work form, using clear examples, paying attention to feedback, facilitating internal discussion and deepening of knowledge after the teaching. Microteaching STI in the Netherlands is a Leonardo da Vinci EU sub-project, which started in October 2004 and will be finished in February 2007. Two sub-projects in Germany and a project in Slovakia deal with the employees' training in their respective fields, on an operational level. RWTH Aachen, Center for Learning and Knowledge Management and Department of Computer Sciences in Mechanical Engineering, is coordinator of the project. Knowledge of the approach will be transferred to Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) Barcelona Spain and also to partners in Finland and Hungarian. This paper describes experiences with the Microteaching STI approach in the Netherlands. Sustainability problems are widely recognised as wicked problems. The scientific expertise needed to deal with multifaceted and complex sustainability problems requires innovation, creative thinking, action-orientated and transdisciplinary approaches. This chapter explores the transdisciplinary approach with sustainability lenses and highlights the need of transdisciplinary practice as one of the guiding principles of education for sustainability by bringing about mutual learning, collaborative research, and problem solving processes among academia, business, government and civil society. The concept of linking knowledge to action for sustainability requires a very different type of education to generate the knowledge that matters to people's decisions and education. From analysing the principles and different implications of the transdisciplinary approaches on both sustainability research and education and revising some implementation experiences on transdisciplinary education approaches for sustainability it is concluded, that transdisciplinarity has the potential to break the dominant fragmentary disciplinary thinking. Some of the assessments of transdisciplinary experiences suggest that there is a need to focus on education professionals training and on the revision of the best practices. ; Postprint (published version)

Epistemological approaches in classical science were grounded on the explanatory needs of the phenomena of their historical time. Nevertheless, our contemporary world shows challenging situations in which the explanatory models of normal sciences have not proved effective. One of these fields is the area of health, in which the complexity of pathological phenomena continuously overwhelms the capacity of the classical models of biomedical research to provide effective answers regarding their comprehension, prevention and control. In the last decade a new science of sustainability has emerged, grounded in general systems theory and the conceptual basis of sustainable development. This area has become a scientific possibility for transcending reductionist analyses of classical sciences, by means of systemic comprehension of contemporary phenomena within the economic, social, environmental, political and ecological domains. However, the literature shows few specific references to an epistemological approach that may establish the boundaries for a metatheoretical structure on which knowledge can be generated in the framework of this emerging scientific discipline. Participatory evaluation of aspiring sustainable schools and their pedagogical potential has recently come into focus. A few authors have made a significant start in examining schools as both environmentally and socially sustainable environments, which might simultaneously represent the 'third teacher'. However, discussion around this idea is new in Spain. This paper describes a participatory post-occupancy study conducted with teachers and pupils in Fort Pienc School, Barcelona, Spain. Findings reveal the pedagogical potential of the school's spaces and fabric, characterised as 'sustainable', and highlight the aspects that the research participants feel are performing and underperforming. The paper concludes that if we want sustainable schools to be a strategy for renovating the educational process and for leading us towards a better tomorrow globally and locally, new models for exploring the pedagogical potential of sustainable schools should be developed and the efforts of all relevant parties synchronised; from architects to governments, from pupils to teachers. ; Postprint (published version)

El desenvolupament sostenible s'ha d'orientar a buscar una avaluació qualitativa per l'ésser humà i el seu grup social i assegurar que les generacions futures disposin d'una base natural sostenidora. D'aquesta manera, ha de permetre involucrar i posar en primera línia les dimensions ètica, ambiental i social, fins ara deixades en segon pla, i col·locar les dimensions tecnològica i econòmica en una posició subordinada a les anteriors, a través d'un procés de transformació qualitatiu lent i gradual de canvis en el temps, dirigits a procurar la plena realització de les potencialitats humanes com a persones, grups i organitzacions. La sostenibilitat té com a requisit, a més, la necessitat d'una perspectiva sociopolítica que pensi en una democràcia més enllà de l'Estat-Nació, un sistema jurídic que garanteixi els drets civil i la justícia social, i que valori els drets intrínsecs de la natura. Des d'aquest punt, llavors, es podria pensar realment en la possibilitat de garantir a les generacions futures un mínim de benestar. ; El desarrollo sostenible debe orientarse a buscar una evaluación cualitativa para el ser humano y su grupo social y asegurar que las generaciones futuras dispongan de una base natural sustentadora. De tal manera, debe permitir involucrar y jerarquizar en primera línea, las dimensiones ética, ambiental y social, hasta ahora dejadas en un segundo plano, y colocar las dimensiones tecnológica y económica en una posición subordinada a las anteriores, a través de un proceso de transformación cualitativa lenta y gradual de cambios en el tiempo dirigidos a procurar la plena realización de las potencialidades humanas como personas, grupos y organizaciones. La sustentabilidad tiene como requisito, además, la necesidad de un enfoque sociopolítico que piense una democracia más allá del estado–nación, un sistema jurídico que garantice los derechos civiles y la justicia social, que valore los derechos intrínsecos de la naturaleza. Desde allí, entonces, se podrá pensar verdaderamente en la posibilidad de asegurar a las generaciones futuras un mínimo de bienestar.

Aquest manual dels Objectius de Desenvolupament Sostenible (ODS) és un projecte que ha comptat amb la coŀlaboració de gairebé un centenar persones i que està dirigit a entitats, ciutadania i govern. Els objectius perseguits amb aquest document són fer entendre què són els ODS, facilitar un punt de trobada de treball i full de ruta entre entitats i entre entitats i govern i, finalment, publicar un directori de totes les entitats de cooperació i medi ambient del camp de Tarragona. A més, el treball de camp realitzat ha permès concloure que la igualtat de gènere és l'objectiu més perseguit per les entitats del territori, seguit pels objectius de desigualtat, educació i el de salut i benestar. Finalment, es destaca que tot i el bon coneixement que les entitats tenen sobre l'Agenda 2030, preocupa la manca de formació provinent del govern sobre aquest àmbit. [Texte de l'editorial]
