This volume offers eight studies on different historical and present-day aspects of leisure in Asia. It critically engages with the predominant Eurocentric focus of leisure studies, bringing into the discussion a number of crucial issues such as the role of leisure as a transcultural contact zone. The volume engages with a field that has been rapidly growing due to the heightened role of leisure activities in defining a person's identity, the fading of the work/leisure divide in the post-industrial age, and the increasing economic importance of leisure pursuits such as tourism. Bringing Asia into the discussion contributes in resetting the study of leisure into a truly global context.

Der Band beschäftigt sich mit einem Gebiet, das aufgrund der verstärkten Bedeutung von Freizeitaktivitäten für die Definition der Identität einer Person, der sich verwischenden Grenzen zwischen Arbeit und Freizeit im postindustriellen Zeitalter und der zunehmenden wirtschaftlichen Bedeutung von Freizeitaktivitäten wie dem Tourismus rasch wächst. This volume contains previously unpublished writings and hardly known texts of the philosopher, writer and intellectual Günther Anders (1902-92) on art and film. The writings date from the 1920s and 1930s, from Anders' years in exile in Paris (1933-36) and the USA (1936-50), especially from his years in Hollywood (1939-43), as well as from the post-war period up to the 1950s. These writings from the author's estate are not only an important source for art and cultural studies, but also put a new complexion on Anders' oeuvre, in particular on his famous criticism of mass media from the first volume of his main work "The Outdatedness of Man" from 1956 ("The World as a Phantom and Matrix"). - Dieser Band versammelt erstmals bislang unveröffentlichte Schriften und verstreut publizierte Texte des Philosophen, Schriftstellers und streitbaren Intellektuellen Günther Anders (1902-92) zu Kunst und Film. The literature on Change Management works from the premise that management possesses the power to achieve change and this is evident in that resistance is little more than a footnote in most textbooks. This assumption sits uneasily, however, with the high failure rate of Change Management interventions. This book seeks to explain this paradox by providing a critical relational' approach towards Change Management. What would a book on Change Management look like that takes resistance seriously? This book attempts precisely this by exploring how resistance is as much a part of change as the strategies of those that seek to enact it. The findings are drawn from a qualitative study of organizational transformation in a Local Government Authority in the UK. Based on work by the Miombo Network in southern Africa, this book helps decision-makers and general readers alike improve their understanding of the socio-ecology of the Miombo woodlands across southern Africa. It also highlights the importance of and the need for further research on the unique Miombo ecology and its link with economic development. "Patients with schizophrenia who meet criteria for admission to an inpatient unit are generally quite ill. The so-called "positive symptoms" of schizophrenia, which can result in threatening behavior and loss of control, are the usual triggers for admission. Some admitted patients will be experiencing a first episode of illness ("first break"), while others are hospitalized with an exacerbation of pre-existing schizophrenia. The most obvious -and most disruptive- symptoms are generally related to psychosis, with the loss of reality testing and impaired mental functioning.(1, 2) Psychosis usually presents with hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thinking, and/or bizarre or disruptive behavior (Table 1-1). The onset of illness or worsening of psychotic symptoms may be noticed by a family member, friend, teacher, co-worker, employer, or caregiver who sees the patient behaving bizarrely and deteriorating in their ability to function.
