The objective of this paper is to show how analyzing open data may help verify politicians' arguments. In this paper we considered the polem- ical 2019 Bolivian general elections as case study. We used open access electoral data and statistical tools, to assess two political arguments that aimed at explaining changes in the vote count trend, namely the arrival of rural votes, and electoral fraud. This study highlights and discusses the importance of open data access and the involvement of science in assessing political arguments.

Asymmetry in knowledge and bargaining power creates opportunities for duplicity and malpractice. Based on the experiences of the Asian medicine market, we propose that this economic sector is particularly susceptible to these vices. The visible hand of the government appears to be more effective in disciplining malefactors than the invisible hand of the market. This thesis is based on areas of knowledge such as political science, ethics, and philosophy that remain, in general, off limits to economists wishing to maintain the purity of the discipline.

We develop a simple algorithm for detecting exam cheating between students who copy off one another's exams. When this algorithm is applied to exams in a general science course at a top university, we find strong evidence of cheating by at least 10% of the students. Students studying together cannot explain our findings. Matching incorrect answers proves to be a stronger indicator of cheating than matching correct answers. When seating locations are randomly assigned, and monitoring is increased, cheating virtually disappears.

A brief overview of the work of Russian scientists in the field of atmospheric chemistry in 20152018, including work on the chemistry of the troposphere, the chemistry of the ozone layer and on the role of chemistry in climate change is presented. Review has been prepared in the Commission on atmospheric chemistry of the meteorology and atmospheric sciences section of the national Geophysics Committee. The report was presented and approved at the XXVII General Assembly of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) 1.

This review contains the most significant results of Russian studies in the field of atmospheric electricity in 20152018. It is part of the Russian National Report on Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciencesto the International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS). The report was presented and approved at the XXVII General Assembly of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) 1. The review is followed by a list of the main published works on the studies of atmospheric electricity of Russian scientists in 20152018.

This article analyses the saga of the alleged 'sonic attacks' directed against US diplomats between 2016 and 2018. It summarises the key developments, and examines the various theories put forward to explain the phenomenon. Analyses by major science- and medicine-based journals are evaluated, and inconsistencies highlighted. The background of troubled US–Cuba relations during the Trump administration is also assessed as a contributing factor to the widespread attention. Finally, some general thoughts on lessons learned from the 'sonic attacks' incidents are offered.

Gane Todorovski (1929–2010)The name of academician Gane Todorovski is deeply embedded in Macedonian poetry, Macedonian science of literature and Macedonian culture in general. His oeuvre is an extraordinary compilation of his expression as a poet; scholar in several areas: literary history, folklore, linguistics, contemporary flows through critical, theoretical and comparative prism, essayist, translator - who enchants lyrics with the touch of Macedonia; anthologist, subeditor and editor of a series of publications, editor of magazines; theatrologist, university professor and bard of cultural events in Macedonia.

ABSTRACTPolitical scientists frequently use in-class simulations as teaching tools. However, few such exercises have been developed to assist in teaching pre-modern political theories. This is unfortunate because simulations effectively promote active learning and excite students about course material. This article develops a new simulation to teach Locke'sSecond Treatise of Governmentin an introductory general education or political science course. Surveys of participants indicate that the Locke simulation promotes active learning, as well as understanding of course concepts, teamwork, and interest in the material.

AbstractYoung adults have particularly low levels of civic engagement. Incorporating
experiential learning activities as part of the political science curriculum shows
promise to reverse this trend. We analyze the impact of a mock presidential election
simulation on the civic engagement of college-aged students. Exit surveys of student
participants and a one-year follow-up survey confirm that this experiential learning
activity had a positive effect on participants' levels of political knowledge, their
interest in public life, and their attitudes about government in general.

ABSTRACTThis article presents the results from a survey of political science department chairs regarding the tenure procedures and standards at their colleges or universities. The findings reveal that only a small fraction of the colleges and universities in the United States refuse to offer tenure or are attempting to limit tenure. We also find general agreement regarding the standards for evaluating teaching and service and that research expectations vary according to the highest degree offered by a department.

This a priori framework is a significant improvement over existing critical juncture frameworks that lack any predictive element. It is an advance for historical institutionalism in particular, and political science in general. After the new framework is set out in detail here, it is tested. The framework is used to examine a number of potential critical junctures in macroeconomic policy, drawn from Ireland, Sweden, Britain, and America in the latter half of the twentieth century
