When education policies call for research to be rescued ; Quand les politiques éducatives appellent la recherche à la rescousse

Abstract

National audience In the float of articles presenting J-M. Blanquer, the new Minister of National Education appointed in May 2017, there was regular mention of his willingness to base his policy on research results. A few weeks ago, several reports on education research had been published: report "Towards a learning company" submitted to Minister Najat Vallaud-Belkacem 1; report on education research of Athéna and Allistene Alliances submitted to Secretary of State Thierry Mandon; report on education researchers published by a working group of the Directorate for Higher Education. Looking back over time, the 2013 school overhaul law was marked in particular by the creation of the National Council for the Evaluation of School Education, a body entrusted with the presidency of an academic. These indicators, among others, underline that research is regularly convened to play a role in the design and development of education policies. Whatever the policy orientations, many decision-makers seem at least to agree that education would benefit from being less suspicious of ideological steering and more based on scientific results.
