Abstract

On March 4, 1952 John S. Apperson, Jr. wrote to E. W. Spears of the Observer Dispatch of Utica, NY discussing the dangers of conservationists serving on state committees where they will not be consulted on the issues but give the appearance of respectability. This issue is what most likely caused the rift between John Apperson and Paul Schaefer
