"Since the 1990s, there have been striking changes in racial ideas, practices, exclusions and violence in Russia. By showing how the processes of globalization and racialization are interrelated, Zakharov seeks to demonstrate and explore the roles these play in Russia's new nationhood project. The book employs a new threefold theoretical elaboration of racialization, examining the process in terms of 'making', 'doing', and finally 'becoming'. These three elements are considered through discussions of a wide variety of aspects of Russian identity and nationalism, from the analysis of subcultures to explorations of nation-building. Race and Racism in Russia provides important new theories and substantive insights into race and ethnicity in a Russian context, and will be a valuable resource for scholars of Postcolonial Studies, Social Theory and Race"--.

The paper discusses feasts, food stuffs and food offerings offered to deities during the ceremony of free-hold establishment-sima-in the Mataram Kingdom in Ancient Java according to inscriptions in the Old Javanese language of the 9th 10th centuries. Food stuffs and goods listed in the text may reveal a common cultural tradition of offerings and/or be formulae fixing a certain amount of these offerings. Not only Ancient Javanese words were used to refer to animals, but also Sanskrit borrowings. The term kumol may mean "a lamb dish". H.B. Sarkar's and A.V. Zavadskaya's translations of Old Javanese epigraphy wrongly translate the terms v3as pada and bras pada as 'unpeeled rice' but the correct meaning is "husked rice".

Connectivity has been one of the most challenging issues for developing trade cooperation between Russia and India. Due to the geographic distance separating the two nations, along with the unstable security environment in Afghanistan and border disputes between India and Pakistan, the creation of a direct and shortest transport route has proven difficult, thereby rendering it impossible to implement crucial projects in energy infrastructure. This paper briefly outlines the functioning logistics between Russia and India, which has relied primarily on shipping through the Suez Canal, with an emphasis on the developments in the wake of conflict in Ukraine. The author briefly explores the prospects for maritime connectivity between the Russian Far East and Indian ports, and highlights several challenges for launching a regular Vladivostok-Chennai corridor. The US and European sanctions against the Russian economy, combined with subsequent difficulties in transporting goods by sea, has reinvigorated Russia's efforts to complete the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC). This corridor holds significant potential for Russia to expand its reach to India, the Persian Gulf, and East Africa. Additionally, it is believed that the project may facilitate India's connectivity with countries in the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Eastern Europe. Therefore, this paper particularly examines the case of the land corridor, exploring its current progress in implementation, the geoeconomic factors involved, existing challenges, and opportunities for compatibility with other initiatives, such as the Europe-Caucasus-Asia Transport Corridor (TRACECA), the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and the Chabahar port. The author argues that, although the implementation of connectivity projects between the two countries will not solve structural problems in their trade relationship, both have a vested interest in promoting infrastructure development for a deeper engagement with new regions. To qualitatively boost Russian-Indian trade, affordable logistical solutions should be developed simultaneously with the resolution of other issues like the settlements for financial transactions, and the elimination of tariff and non-tariff barriers.

Research methods corresponded to this purpose are based on the principles of historicism and objectivity. They presented by general scientific methods of analysis, induction, biographical, psychoanalytic, and especially historical prosopographic method. The scientific novelty of the research is that for the first time the facts of the family ties of the indicated families were analyzed and systematized, as well as new facts to the question of the origin of the Yareskov branch of the Troshchinsky family, which contradict the generally accepted one theory, are given. Based on the analysis, it was concluded that the Troshchinsky family had long maintained ties with the Leontovych family from Govtva. This is confirmed by the facts: 1) the presence of representatives of families as godparents on church sacraments; 2) correspondence conducted by representatives of the Troshchinsky family, where Leontovych was repeatedly mentioned as relatives; 3) cases where representatives of both families helped with the placement for work or for study. The beginning of these family ties was the marriage of Prokip Troshchinsky with Maryna Leontovych. This event occurred shortly after the appearance of the Troshchinsky in the town Yaresky of Mirgorod regiment. Looking at the facts given in the article, before that they lived for some time in mentioned town Govtva. This contradicts the common version of the Troshchinsky pedigree, which is based on A. Lazarevsky and V. Modzalevsky researching. They lead the Yaresky family branch from the sons of military comrade Andrii S. Troshchinsky. The statements and documents are given in the article connect the appearance of Troshchinsky in Yaresky with Ivan and his sons Martyn and Prokop, who moved there in the early 1740s from Govtva. These facts point to the need for further study of the Troshchinsky family before appearing in Yaresky in ...
