Revisitando la Reforma protestante (1517-2017): ética, economía política y liberalismo ; Revisiting the Protestant Reform (1517-2017): ethics, economics, politics and liberalism
; The present article aims at offering proofs that avail the contribution made by the Protestant Reform towards both the strengthening of Capitalism and the rising of the liberal State. Historians and economists alike agree that tangible factors –localization, climate, amount of natural resources– are necessary, but not sufficient in themselves, to explain economic growth. In the long run, the philosophical and religious cosmovision of any society, attached to its institutional representation, has proved to be fundamental. In this regard, Puritanism, by making full use in many occasions of doctrinal support derived from Scolasticism, will give rise to the moral and political philosophy of liberal constitutionalism, reformulating in its case the set of relations between Church, State and civil Society. In a similar manner, it will also clear the path towards a 'scientific revolution' and Political economic, laboring in its case under the shade of the Royal Society and viewing experimentation as a quasi-religious experience.

; Catalans in Spain and the political economy of the Enlightenment: «peaceful conquest» or Spain beats?
; These pages are an attempt to explain how political economy and 18th century economists analysed the effects of a gradual integration of the Spanish national economy. The omnipresence of traginers and Catalan merchandises was a clear sign of the end of regional markets which, up to those days, had been situated away from external competition and enjoyed the natural protection which both, distance and high transaction prices, offered. Protected by those boundaries, each region had a tendency to commercial self-sufficiency and to produce «a little of everything». The internal organization of markets did not cease to attract criticism and disapproval, due to the asymmetries which were made evident in the distribution of the profits associated with demand increase. For the same reason, given the existence of regional competition, Political economy found arguments which allowed the entitlement of balance preservation, which supported the traditional economic order. In that task, the «moral economy» was one of the weapons wielded again the mandates of a natural order which was governed by the «invisible hand» and by personal «interest».

Jovellanos: ilustración, economía y «felicidad pública» ; Jovellanos: the Enlightenment, economics and «public happiness»
From mid XVIII Century, an intensification of international circulation of economic ideas made Spain participate in the emergence of Political Economy as a discipline in the service of public felicity . Jovellanos did not fail to contribute to the new science. His life and professional development, as well as the particular circumstances of the period, explain the fact that the reforming emergencies became the priorities in his duties as an economist: economic theory was placed in the service of applied economics. The aim of this paper is to provide a synthetic view of the above mentioned question.

Economía política y manufacturas: una perspectiva regional ; Political economy and manufactures: A regional perspective
xviiith Spanish industrial manufacturing has been duly covered by historiography: besides regional, sectorial and corporate analyses we can also count on studies centered upon the «industrial legacy» of the Ancien Régime. That is the very reason why this article has been tackled from a new perspective, based not only on assessing the degree of efficiency of theses formulated from the angle of political economics but on analysing the depth reached by regional initiatives for development springing from economic societies, farming and art academias, consulates, trading corporations, among others./nDespite the high number of corporate initiatives and the availability of capital, there were very few sectors (cotton, flour, paper manufacturing) showing a truly viable technical and organizational model. Institutional restrictions and social resistance added to other limitations with no easy solution: low productivity rate, poor urban development or weak market integration, among others. ; /n
