The Danish government has set ambitious targets regarding the future exploitation of renewable energy in the Danish energy system. In many respects, the prospective increase in renewable energy resources (RES) will substantially impact the entire future Danish energy system. Renewable gas is a fuel that can contribute to the sustainable transition towards an energy system independent of fossil fuels in the longterm. This study investigates the role of renewable gas production in a renewable based Danish energy system. To facilitate the modelling of renewable gas, improvements of the structure in the spatiotemporal optimization model OptiFlow is carried out. The OptiFlow model is hard-linked to the existing energy system model Balmorel, allowing modelling the gas chain from up-stream renewable gas production, through storage facilities to end consumers. Balmorel is a bottom-up, deterministic, partial equilibrium model, which minimizes systems costs under perfect market conditions. The developments in OptiFlow enable modelling of various processing technologies, e.g. biological- and thermal- gasification as well as electrolysis technologies. The co-simulation of OptiFlow and Balmorel leads to the socio-economic optimal system, where investments and operations optimization is facilitated for the integrated electricity, district heating, and gas system. The results of this study show that production of RE-gas is socio-economically attractive in all the investigated scenarios. Furthermore, the results show that RE-gas directly injected into the natural gas pipeline network is preferred. The analysis show that geographical allocation of resources has an impact on the results. Moreover, it was shown that hydrogen was not produced in periods with high electricity prices.

It is essential to manage waste in an integrated manner, beginning at the domestic and village levels. In fact, there are still a significant number of residents who throw trash carelessly. Jurangjero village, a village in Klaten Regency, Central Java, is an example of a village that does not adequately manage its waste. In addition, the village has agricultural waste issues that require optimal utilization, including rice straw. This community service program aims to increase public awareness of organic and inorganic domestic waste management and agricultural waste management so that they can be applied appropriately to the concept of the green village. The program's methods included field observations, waste management outreach, and training. The training included the creation of organic fertilizers, eco-bricks, plastic waste containers, and straw paper. Farmer groups and farmer women's groups have gained an understanding of the management of domestic organic waste into organic fertilizer and compost as a result of the outreach and training activities. Karangtaruna has also gained an understanding of inorganic waste management by applying the recycling concept, which entails transforming plastic refuse into plastic pots and ecobricks. They have also grasped the production of economically valuable art paper from rice stalks. The descriptive analysis revealed that the average pre-test and posttest scores were 55.58 and 76.67, respectively. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that this community service program has increased residents' knowledge of managing domestic and agricultural waste to create valuable products. The support of the village administration is required for sustainable waste management and the continuation of empowerment initiatives.

The Indonesian family life survey (IFLS) is used for formulating various government policies. Our preliminary study using data from the IFLS showed increase in the prevalence of toothache from 2007 to 2014. Hence, a need to analyse the factors associated with toothache using structural equation modelling (SEM) for identifying the direct and indirect association of factors with toothache was evident. The objective of this study is to analyse the complex relationships between toothache and its associated risk factors. This cross-sectional study was conducted on the data obtained from the IFLS in 2014. The IFLS data pertaining to toothache and its prevalence were analysed using the STATA software, and the multifaceted relationship was analysed using SEM. The prevalence of toothache among Indonesian children was 15.55% (1,959 of 12,595). SEM showed the direct association between toothache and age (p < 0.001) and parent awareness of children's health conditions (p < 0.005) and food consumption frequency (p < 0.001). Parents' education level and residential area showed an indirect association with toothache, mediated by socio-economic status and parent awareness of children's health conditions (p < 0.001). We identified the multifaceted relationship between toothache and the social covariates. Parents' awareness of their children's health conditions mediated several indirect associations, highlighting its importance.

BACKGROUND: This study assessed the direct, indirect and total effect of distal - political - risk indicators (affecting populations), and proximal risk indicators (affecting women) on the global prevalence of early childhood caries (ECC) in 3-5 year old children. METHODS: Data on global ECC prevalence were obtained from a prior study. Data for distal risk indicators (voice and accountability; political stability/absence of terrorism; control of corruption) were obtained from the World Bank Governance indicators, 2016. Data for proximal risk indicators (women's opportunity for leadership; percentage of female legislators, top officials and managers; basic employability status of women; ability of women to afford time off work to care for newborns; gross national income (GNI) per capita for females) were derived from the Human Development Index, 2016. Associations between variables were assessed with path analysis. RESULTS: Voice and accountability (β = - 0.60) and GNI per capita for females (β = - 0.33) were directly associated with a lower ECC prevalence. Political stability/absence of terrorism (β =0.40) and higher percentage of female legislators, senior officials and managers (β = 0.18) were directly associated with a higher ECC prevalence. Control of corruption (β = - 0.23) was indirectly associated with a lower ECC prevalence. Voice and accountability (β = 0.12) was indirectly associated with a higher ECC prevalence. Overall, voice and accountability (β = - 0.49), political stability/absence of terrorism (β = 0.34) and higher female GNI (β = - 0.33) had the greatest effects on ECC prevalence. CONCLUSION: Distal risk indicators may have a stronger impact on ECC prevalence than do proximal risk indicators. Approaches to control ECC may need to include political reforms.
