A supplier selection decision inherently is a multi‐criterion problem. It is a decision of strategic importance to companies. The nature of this decision usually is complex and unstructured. Management science techniques might be helpful tools for these kinds of decision‐making problems. The aim of this paper is to use fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to select the best supplier firm providing the most satisfaction for the criteria determined. The purchasing managers of a white good manufacturer established in Turkey were interviewed and the most important criteria taken into account by the managers while they were selecting their supplier firms were determined by a questionnaire. The fuzzy AHP was used to compare these supplier firms.
PurposeThe purpose of study is linked to management and policy‐making strategies, such as forest management, land use planning and sustainable management of natural resources. It aims to help prevent forest fire by taking precautions. It also aims to be helpful for authorities coping during the event of occurrence of fire.Design/methodology/approachThe methodology paradigm applied here is based on knowledge‐based and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) techniques. Knowledge‐based criteria involve topographic and different themes for risk assessment. The assignment of value given to equation is significant due to its importance.FindingsResults are in strong agreement with actual fire occurrences in the past years. The risk zones are identified according to past occurrence of fire. The gradients of low‐ to high‐risk zones are according to fuel, topographic features and weather conditions. Direction and aspect value were taken accordingly.Originality/valueThe paper presents forest fire risk zones designed on knowledge‐based information. Crisp and fuzzy AHP approaches were applied to improve the efficacy of the model. The mapping results were in accordance with actual fire occurrences in the past years.
The high level of poverty in Indonesia encourages the government and social institutions to seek to provide social assistance to the community in improving welfare, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, in the form of basic necessities, cash, and other forms of subsidies. However, sometimes the distribution of social assistance is not well-targeted so that some people should receive the assistance but are not touched at all. Then the data obtained are also still manual so it takes time in making decisions. Therefore we need a method that can assist in making decisions quickly with the help of computers. One of the methods used in making these decisions is the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) which is widely used for solving decision-making problems with many criteria. Fuzzy AHP itself is a combination of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method and fuzzy theory. In this study, several criteria were determined in the selection of recipients of social assistance, namely employment, expenditure, clothing, food, and housing. Furthermore, the alternative recipients of social assistance that will be selected are compared based on predetermined criteria. The highest value which is the result of Fuzzy AHP calculations can be used as a recommendation for decision-makers in selecting social assistance recipients. Previous researches focused on operation performance. This thesis purposes for evaluating the financial performance of the airlines. In order to achieve financial objectives to be incorporated into the financial performance of their degree. It is a method to measure the results of a company?s operations in a monetary term. The problem is modeled by multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) one. Multi criteria decision making (MCDM) is a method of the most important fields of operations research and deals with the problems that include multiple and conflicting objectives. It is obvious that when more than objective exists in the problem, making a decision becomes more complex. To solve the problem, I used the fuzzy numbers to explain their values. After that, I used a method of fuzzy multi criteria group decision making (FMCGDM) as Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) to solve the problem of the evaluation of airlines? financial performances. At first time the decision making process of the financial performance is investigated, when financial ratios are given by a fuzzy function, they are obtained through classical methods. After that, we will discuss the main advantages of the new approach. Finally, we illustrate an experimantal model of evaluation of the three domestic airlines? financial performance in Turkey. ; Önceki araştırmalara bakıldığında havacılık sektöründe operasyon performansına yönelik çalışılmıştır. Bu çalışma, havacılık sektörünün finansal performansı bakımından değerlendirilmesini amaçlamaktadır. Finansal performans şirketlerin finansal faaliyetlerini ifade eder.
Sustainable urban development (SUD) requires a balance between economic growth, social well-being, and environmental protection. Oftentimes, urban policy makers can hardly fulfill all SUD goals due to inadequacy of resources to support SUD programs. Therefore, the process of allocating scarce resources to achieve and balance various SUD goals becomes a critical challenge for policy makers and researchers. To solve this problem, this study adopts fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and fuzzy Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Situation (TOPSIS) to assess and rank different indicators of SUD and evaluate different cities in an emerging economy (Vietnam). Fuzzy methods exhibit more advantages than traditional ranking methods. Fuzzy AHP is an extension of AHP, whereas fuzzy TOPSIS is an extension of TOPSIS. Fuzzy methods are used to overcome disadvantages of traditional methods and are beneficial techniques for solving complicated decision problems with a realistic solution. Using a valid sample data of ten experts in the field of SUD, empirical results show that education, healthcare, quality of life, and social democracy are the most important indicators of SUD. By contrast, social diversity, social maturity, and energy consumption are the least important indicators of SUD. For social sustainability, social democracy and quality of life are the two most important criteria, whereas social maturity and social diversity are the two least important criteria. For economic sustainability, education and healthcare are the two most important criteria, whereas infrastructure and income are the two least important criteria. For environmental sustainability, water quality and waste disposal are the two most important criteria, whereas energy consumption and ecological conservation are the two least important criteria. Furthermore, fuzzy TOPSIS results reveal the best and the worst cities in Vietnam with regard to overall SUD and its three components. This study provides evidence for researchers and policy makers to better understand the importance of different goals of SUD and efficiently allocate scarce resources to achieve and balance different SUD goals. Furthermore, researchers and policy makers should further focus on indicators such as social democracy, quality of life, education, healthcare, water quality, and waste disposal. These indicators will help obtain the goals of SUD.
Outsourcing strategies reveal trends in strategic business administration. Over the past 80 years, outsourcing has become one of the most important concepts in business management and operation. In Taiwan, optoelectronics, semiconductors, and information technology (IT) are the major industries engaging in engineering manpower outsourcing (EMO) due to their capital intensity and their requirements for a large quantity of high-quality engineers. This study analyzes the EMO competence of Taiwan's enterprises using expert interviews, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) analysis, and a fuzzy logic inference system (FLIS). This study shows that EMO competence can be divided into three influential variables: cost, resources, and strategy. The results of this research indicate that the cost variable has the greatest influence on EMO. The results of fuzzy analysis demonstrate that if enterprises intend to improve their EMO, they must consider the combination of the direct cost and talents sub-variables within the resource variable to be more important than the various sub-variable combinations of cost and strategy. Moreover, empirical results also show that the internal operation (IO) sub-variable has a significant impact on the strategy variable and that the internal training (IT) and external alliance (EA) sub-variables have little influence on the strategy variable with respect to EMO.

The distribution of Sosial Assistance (BANSOS) in Molombulahe Village remains to experience various issues where its one of them is the village has yet to indicate a significant change for the recipients of Social Assistance according to the data from Central Bureau of Statistics. In addition, the process of distribution for this assistance is still redundant at two types of assistance, while the selection process for the assistance recipients is still timeconsuming in regards to data processing so that an individual may take in more than one type of Social Assistance Dealing with the previos issues, a decision support system for recipients og Social Assistance by using the implementation of Fuzzy AHP method is required which could facilitate in data collection process and decision making in determining decent recipients of Social Assistance, so that there is no mare redundancy for the Assistance distribution in molumbulahe Village. Therefore, the distribution process of Social Assistence through applying the implementation of Fuzzy AHP method in the Decision Support System of Social Assistance Recipients could help the government of Molombulahe Village in the data management for proposed recipients of Social Assistance in the assistance distribution process. Therefore, the determination of decent Social Assistance recipients could be more accurate anf right on target. Keywords Decision Support System, Social Assistence, Implementation Of Fuzzy AHP

Politico-economic deregulation, new communication technologies, and cheap transport have pushed companies to increasingly outsource business activities to geographically distant countries. Such outsourcing has often resulted in complex supply chain configurations. Because social and environmental regulations in those countries are often weak or poorly enforced, stakeholders impose responsibility on focal companies to ensure socially and environmentally sustainable production standards throughout their supply chains. In this paper, we present an integrated fuzzy AHP-VIKOR approach-based framework for sustainable global supplier selection that takes sustainability risks from sub-suppliers (i.e., (1+n)th-tier suppliers) into account. Sustainability criteria (including risk concerns) were identified from the existing literature and were further narrowed with the assistance of field experts and case decision makers to remove any literature bias. Then, based on the finalized sustainability criteria, suppliers and sub-suppliers were evaluated altogether. In previous studies, this approach was limited. The problem is addressed in two stages as follows. In the first stage, fuzzy AHP is used to generate criteria weights for sustainable global supplier selection, and in the second stage, fuzzy VIKOR is used to rate supplier performances against the evaluation criteria. Among five sustainability criteria (economic, quality, environment, social, and global risk), economic criteria demonstrated the greatest weight and global risk displayed the least weight. This result clearly shows that global risks are still not considered a major criterion for supplier selection. Further, the proposed framework may serve as a starting point for developing managerial decision-making tools to help companies more effectively address sustainability risks occurring further upstream in their supply chains. These vital tools are particularly important if focal companies are under intense scrutiny by their stakeholders.
The research was focused on the integration of Fuzzy set theory with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) to choose the optimum maritime security policy to achieve Indonesia recognition as the world's maritime axis. The method used is AHP with fuzzy based enhancement. Here, the weight of each criterion is calculated to overcome the criticism of the scale of unbalanced rating, uncertainty, and inaccuracy in the pairwise of comparison process. The best recommendation for Indonesian maritime policies is multi task single agency which is greatly infuenced by several factors such as technology, regulations, infrastructure, economic, politic, and socio-culture. The finding shows that the hybrid approach is able to produce the best recommendation for Indonesian maritime security policy.
