Abstract
The current "information revolution" has profound implications for Arab countries, opening up public dialogue, political discourse, social debate and even religious interpretations to wider circles. How can the new communication technologies also be used to encourage development that is sustainable and equitable, maintain the value of indigenous communication and cultural tradition, and strengthen national identity, while fostering inter-Arab cooperation in an area of globalization?
