Abstract
After a brief review of the consolidation of political power by General Suharto and economic development since 1966, the author discusses the economic and political situation of the country in 1984. In 1982, Indonesia faced its most serious economic setback since 1966 due to world recession and oil glut. Sluggishness of the economy in 1983. State leaders' attempts to cope with the economic crisis in 1984. Political order strengthened by President Suharto with the appointment of a new cabinet and with the rejuvination of the state party Golkar. (DÜI-Sen)
