Abstract
In March 1983, U.S. President Reagan unveiled his plans for creating a space-based system of missile defence, the Strategic Defence Initiative (SDI). The PRC has shown profound interest in the SDI. The study traces China's negative reaction to SDI against the backdrop of its defence and security policies. Economic and technological aspects of the SDI and China's economic and technical co-operation with the West especially the USA. (DÜI-Sen)
