Abstract

The Layman's report provides a brief summary of the LIFE ECO-SANDFILL project's objectives and results. This is targeted at a nonspecialist audience and serves to inform decisionmakers. Demonstration actions executed in foundry and construction applications in the Basque Country (ES), using reclaimed sand as secondary fine aggregates and moulding sand are described. The environmental gains obtained by valorisation of 620 t of spent foundry sand, otherwise disposed of in landfills, are discussed. ; LIFE ECO-SANDFILL is co-financed by LIFE Programme, the financial instrument for the Environment and Climate Action of the European Union.
