Phoretic mites associated withRhynchophorus phoenicisFabricius(1880) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) inthe Kisangani region, D.R. Congo

Abstract

We sampled the mites present on individuals ofRhynchophorus phoeniciscollected atdifferent sites in the Kisangani region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Twospecies belonging to two families (Uroactiniidae and Urodinychidae) were identified:Centrouropoda almerodaiandUroobovella phoenicola. This is the first time thatC.almerodaihas been reported onR. phoenicis. The number of mites per adult may reach 39and differs between sexes and regions.
