Abstract

Part of topic : Ambiance, atmosphere, climate: theory, politics and criticism ; International audience ; This article draws up a sensible overview of contexts, issues, questions and developments relating to ambiance. This framework is exploratory, pragmatic and prospective. It aims to highlight what ambiance is likely to reveal, to perform and to foreshadow about the contemporary world. I hypothesise that the notion of ambiance functions as an analyser and an operator of the transformations of the current urban world.
