Médiévalisme et théorie, pourquoi maintenant ?

Abstract

18 p. ; International audience ; Médiévalisme, a rare word in French, was chosen to spur reflection on the object and methods of medievalism, namely the reception of the Middle Ages in later centuries (especially from the 19th up to the 21st century) in areas of creativity and erudition. Medievalism concerns both artistic or fictional creations, and learned books devoted to the Middle Ages. The bibliography of medievalism contains a great many entries, but methodological, general or theoretical studies constitute a rare (and relatively recent) occurrence in this vast, plethoric output.
