Publikacja recenzowana / Peer-reviewed publication ; Wraz z rozwojem europejskiej integracji gospodarczej, zagwarantowanie bezpieczeństwa energetycznego Wspólnot Europejskich stawało się coraz bardziej istotnym zagadnieniem. Bezpieczeństwo energetyczne stało się podstawowym elementem polityki klimatyczno-energetycznej Unii Europejskiej i jej państw członkowskich. Analiza ewolucji polityki klimatyczno-energetycznej Unii Europejskiej oraz obowiązującego pakietu klimatycznego prowadzi do wniosku, że konieczność zagwarantowania bezpieczeństwa energetycznego jest jednym z ważniejszych celów w bliższej i dalszej przyszłości. W artykule podjęto próbę przedstawienia istoty bezpieczeństwa energetycznego na podstawie toczącej się w literaturze debaty. Przedstawiono wybrane defi nicje bezpieczeństwa energetycznego wraz z jego determinantami. ; Together with the development of European integration, the guarantee to ensure energy security of the European Communities has become increasingly important. It has become an important factor in the security policy implemented by member states and the European Union. An analysis of the evolution of the European Union energy policy and the current climate and energy package leads to the conclusion that the guarantee of energy security is a high priority for the short-term and longterm future. The article presents the nature of energy security based on the debate taking place in literature on the subject. Selected defi nitions of energy safety have been introduced as well as the determinants of energy security as a theory.
