From 2027, Pollux Publishing will launch as a non-commercial platform for political science journals under a Diamond Open Access model. A significant milestone: We have secured the renowned journal "Totalitarianism and Democracy" from the Hannah Arendt Institute for Totalitarianism Research (HAIT) as Pollux Publishing’s first partner.
By switching to Pollux, we are breaking new ground with our institute’s journal. We expect this to provide low-threshold access, increased visibility and the possibility of new technical presentation formats. As a research institute engaged in interdisciplinary work on dictatorships, autocracies and extremism, open access publication is also of particular importance to us.
Prof. Dr. Jörg Ganzenmüller, Director of the Hannah Arendt Institute for Totalitarianism Studies at TU Dresden
Together with HAIT, we are consistently developing the journal further: Following the successful transition to a commercial open-access model (2020–2026), the next step is now underway. From 2027, it will be published under Diamond Open Access – freely accessible, with no publication fees.
We are very much looking forward to this collaboration and our shared journey towards independent, open scholarship.
About Pollux Publishing
Through Pollux Publishing, we offer editors of political science journals the opportunity to publish their journals under the non-commercial Diamond Open Access model. Under Diamond OA, there are no publication fees for authors, and publishers retain control over content and the peer-review process. Furthermore, as a research-led political science publishing platform, Pollux Publishing ensures long-term availability and access via persistent identifiers, thereby supporting academic autonomy and sustainability. Last but not least, with Pollux Publishing we are meeting the demands of research funders to support an open academic culture in political science.
If you are editor of a political science journal or are planning to launch a new journal and are interested in publishing it via Pollux Publishing, please do not hesitate to contact us. We can advise you on technical and financial matters and explore potential areas of cooperation together.
