La ciudad como encrucijada. Una mirada desde sus intersticios

Tanto así, que algunos lo reconocen como el crítico más lúcido de la modernidad. Ligado al mesianismo (desde la tradición judía), a las teorías de Brecht y a la escuela de Frankfurt (aunque él siempre se definió como un pensador independiente), la fisonomía de Walter Benjamin surge con fuerza precisamente en un momento en que se hace necesario re-pensar la complejidad cultural de América Latina en el marco de lo moderno metropolitano. Constituyendo -la producción benjaminiana- un puente fundamental entre los postulados frankfurtistas (modernismo) y la emergencia de los Estudios Culturales (postmodernismo) en nuestro continente. En el presente artículo -y a propósito de localizar fisuras en el orden instituido que nos permitan contrabandear cierto tipo de "iluminación profana" (Benjamin, W. 1993)-pondremos en circulación una particular lectura sobre las experiencias de la subjetividad en el perímetro del asfaltado rostro urbano que hoy exhibe nuestra heterogénea modernidad.
