In: Monthly review: an independent socialist magazine, Band 37, Heft 1, S. 22-37
ISSN: 0027-0520
THIS PAPER ASKS THE QUESTION, IN LIGHT OF THE ELECTION TO A THIRD TERM OF BURLINGTON'S SOCIALIST MAYOR, BERNARD SANDERS: DOES THE PROCESS OF SURVIVAL WITHIN A CAPITALIST SYSTEM NECESSARILY DILUTE SOCIALISM? AND WHAT CAN A SOCIALIST MAYOR DO? THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES THE CAMPAIGN, AND THE PROGRAMS INITIATED BY THE SANDERS CAMPAIGN, BASED ON SANDER'S MIXED CONSTITUENCY AND THE QUALITY-OF-LIFE ISSUES. SOME OF CRITICS OF THE ADMINISTRATION ARE ALSO DISCUSSED.
