In the modern world, most of the languages are in contact with other ones, self-suppressing languages almost do not exist. The processes of globalization, intercultural communication, the emergence of many cultural worlds, the strengthening of interethnic and interlingual contacts maintain the role of language contacts in the modern world. The result of linguistic contacts is pidgin as a kind of reflection of the processes and phenomena occurring in the social space. It serves as an auxiliary means of communication in standard communication situations. Language contacts in the study are understood as a phenomenon that arises between different language speakers in the process of their contacts. One of the types of pidgin is the Russian-Chinese pidgin. The study attempts to analyze the Harbin Russian-Chinese pidgin within the framework of structural and functional analysis by T. Parsons.

Military spouses, most of whom are women, often contend with a number of factors that can influence their employment status. Previous studies have examined the role of service-member and spousal demographic characteristics on wives' employment. However, little is known about the role spousal mental health has on employment while controlling for demographic characteristics. Using repeated-measures logistic regressions, this longitudinal study explored associations between spousal mental health and employment while controlling for service-member and spousal characteristics in a sample of 1,164 women. Fewer depressive symptoms were significantly associated with employment ( p < .05). Spouses of enlisted personnel, women who were older, racial/ethnic minorities, homeowners, or had city stability, had higher odds of employment ( p < .05). Military spouses of active duty service members and those less educated had lower odds of employment ( p < .05). Depressive symptoms and demographic characteristics should guide employment opportunity programs for military spouses.

AbstractIn the digital era, digital platforms are gradually changing the ways of life and social production and are becoming the centre of digital services in various industries. Additionally, they break the established institutional framework of social recognition and promote technological change and innovation. Thus, examining the quality of innovation facilitated by digital platforms has become an important area of research. This paper utilises China's 2011–2021 provincial panel data and examines digital platforms, resource mismatches and innovation quality within the same research framework. The direct, indirect and nonlinear effects of digital platforms on innovation quality are explored using the fixed effects model, intermediary effect model and dynamic threshold regression model. The findings indicate that digital platforms have a significant positive direct effect on innovative quality, and resource mismatches play intermediary and threshold roles in the process. These findings offer policy guidance for constructing robust digital platform ecosystems and enhancing innovation quality.

AbstractThe unique, ambiguous, and complex navigable environment determines the essential difference between Arctic shipping routes and conventional routes in regard to safety issues. To achieve a scientific understanding of the characteristics and variations of environmental risks involved in the Arctic shipping, it is essential to rationally address the uncertainty and incompleteness of environment‐related risk information. In this study, fuzzy evidential reasoning is introduced to carry out multisource heterogeneous data fusion and spatiotemporal dynamic assessment of navigable environmental risks for Arctic shipping routes. Based on big Earth data collected from the European Center for Medium‐Range Weather Forecasts, National Snow And Ice Data Center, National Center for Environmental Information, and University of Bremen from 2012 to 2019, a case study of the Northeast Passage is considered to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed methodology. Finally, the results are described from three aspects: spatial distribution, temporal changes, and sensitivity analysis, with consideration of the entire passage and five marginal seas at the same time. Based on these findings, the prospect of application of big Earth data in risk assessment is further discussed from two aspects of knowledge acquisition by big data and risk analysis at different scales, to inspire sustainable development of Arctic shipping.
BACKGROUND: The medical home (MH) model has been promoted by both the federal and state governments in the United States in recent years. To ascertain American children's MH status, many studies have relied on a large set of survey items, posing a considerable burden on their parents. We aimed to identify individual survey items or domains that best predict MH status for children and use them to develop brief markers of MH status. We also examined whether the identified items differed by status of special health care needs and by racial/ethnic group. METHOD: Using the 9-year data from Medical Expenditure Panel Survey, we examined associations between children's MH status and individual survey items or domains. We randomly split the data into two halves with the first half (training sample, n = 8611) used to identify promising items, and the second half (validation sample, n = 8779) used to calculate all statistical measures. After discovering significant predictors of children's MH status, we incorporated them into several brief markers of MH status. We also conducted stratified analyses by status of special health care needs and by racial/ethnic group. RESULTS: Less than half (48.7%) of the 8779 study children had a MH. The accessibility domain has stronger association with children's MH status (specificity = 0.84, sensitivity = 1, Kappa = 0.83) than other domains. The top two items with the strongest association with MH status asked about after-hours primary care access, including doctors' office hours at night or on the weekend and children's difficulty accessing care after hours. Both belong to the accessibility domain and are one of several reliable markers for children's MH status. While each of the two items did not differ significantly by status of special health care needs, there were considerable disparities across racial/ethnic groups with Latino children lagging behind other children. CONCLUSION: Accessibility, especially the ability to access health care after regular office hours, appears to be the ...
