Die politische und ökonomische Situation in Rußland hat sich nach der Wende grundlegend geändert. Das Fehlen der Stabilität im Land und viele dadurch entstandene Probleme zeigen sich auch im russischen Verlagswesen und im Buchhandel. Die deutschen Bibliotheken, die sich mit der Erwerbung russischer Literatur befassen, werden mit diesen Problemen konfrontiert. Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit zeigt die Probleme bei der Erwerbung russischer Literatur auf, die infolge der schwierigen gegenwärtigen Situation im Verlagswesen und im Buchhandel Rußlands entstanden sind. Zunächst werden die sozialpolitischen Veränderungen dargestellt und ihre Auswirkung auf die Erwerbungstätigkeit der deutschen Bibliotheken geschildert. Danach werden verschiedene bibliographische Nachweise (Bibliographien, Kataloge des Buchhandels usw.) und die Lieferanten für russische Literatur vorgestellt. Die Firmen "Kubon & Sagner" und "Me?dunarodnaja Kniga" werden als die wichtigsten Lieferanten ausführlich behandelt. Die Erwerbung russischer Literatur an der Universitätsbibliothek Tübingen wird untersucht, wobei das zweischichtige Bibliothekssystem, dem die UB angehört, kurz erläutert wird. Nach einer Gegenüberstellung der UB Tübingen, der Bibliothek des Instituts für Osteuropäische Geschichte und Landeskunde und der Bibliothek der Neuphilologischen Fakultät werden auch mögliche Formen der Erwerbungsabsprache zwischen ihnen beschrieben. Im Anschluß daran werden mögliche Beschaffungswege für russische Literatur mit ihren Vorteilen, Nachteilen und Problemen dargestellt.

Taking as its point of departure recent insights about the performative¦nature of genre, The Poetics and Politics of the American Gothic¦challenges the critical tendency to accept at face value that gothic¦literature is mainly about fear. Instead, Agnieszka Soltysik Monnet¦argues that the American Gothic, and gothic literature in general,¦is also about judgment: how to judge and what happens when¦judgment is confronted with situations that defy its limits.¦Poe, Hawthorne, Melville, Gilman, and James all shared a concern¦with the political and ideological debates of their time, but tended¦to approach these debates indirectly. Thus, Monnet suggests, while¦slavery and race are not the explicit subject matter of antebellum¦works by Poe and Hawthorne, they nevertheless permeate it through¦suggestive analogies and tacit references. Similarly, Melville, Gilman,¦and James use the gothic to explore the categories of gender and¦sexuality that were being renegotiated during the latter half of the¦century. Focusing on The Fall of the House of Usher, The Marble¦Faun, Pierre, The Turn of the Screw, and The Yellow Wallpaper,¦Monnet brings to bear minor texts by the same authors that further¦enrich her innovative readings of these canonical works. At the same¦time, her study persuasively argues that the Gothic's endurance¦and ubiquity are in large part related to its being uniquely adapted¦to rehearse questions about judgment and justice that continue to¦fascinate and disturb.

It has always been an interesting issue deliberating the connectedness between corporation and political power. There have been a substantial number of papers in the academic literature empirically studying what so call "corporate political connections" over the last 17 years. Using 81 papers published in 2010-2017 in finance, economics, accounting, management and other journals, in this present paper, I provide a recent literature review on firm political connections particularly with respect to the empirical studies discussing the impact of being politically connected firms. A number of issues related to the effect of political connections on corporate strategy, behaviors and outcomes have been addressed. Few other papers provide different perspective by looking at the antecedents of corporate political connections and the contingency role of such connections. Little is found on the development of new measures of corporate political connections. Finally, it could be suggested that the interaction between political connections and the technological-based business innovation would be an interesting issue to study.

One of the most notable features of post-1949 China has been its striking periodicity. Through their pronounced policy changes and frequent political campaigns, Chinese leaders have incidentally provided the foreign analyst with a set of periods according to which events may be readily classified. Indeed, the temporal variable is the chief qualifier on which our generalizations must be contingent. There are few statements about the People's Republic, particularly those dealing with its conscious efforts at "development," which can be made without a modifying phrase such as "before the cultural Revolution …" or "as a result of the Great Leap…." Thus, though considerations of time are obviously important for any developmental analysis, they are particularly significant with regard to China where one is struck by the frequency, suddenness and apparent disjointedness of change. The untidy set of events since 1949 which comprises China's developmental experience violates the sense of orderly progress on which so much of our thinking about development has been based.

The study focussed on teachers' qualification and errors committed by students in science practical in senior secondary schools using descriptive research of the survey type. The participants were 243 of 1,563 science teachers in Ekiti State public senior secondary school who were selected through multi-stage sampling procedure from the three senatorial districts of the state. An instrument titled, 'Errors in Science Questionnaire' (ESQ) was used to collect data from the respondents. The data collected were collated and analysed using descriptive statistics involving frequency counts, mean and percentages. The results of the study revealed among others that errors in science practical were most frequent in physics practical and that most of the teachers teaching science subjects (particularly physics) in senior secondary schools were not qualified with its negative effect on teaching and learning of science. It was therefore recommended among others, that Government should embark on massive recruitment of qualified and experienced science teachers (particularly physics teachers) into the teaching service and encourage in-service trainings for science teachers for professional upgrading and competencies in their jobs which could help them to be more committed to practical oriented method of teaching and reduce the rate of errors committed by students during practical. Purpose. Presentation of activity and the choice regarding tourist destination of the Chicago Polonia. Discussing the determinants of the tourist activity in the light of literature and creating one's own model of activity and tourist destination for the whole American population. Method. Desk research – studies of foreign and Polish literature. Empirical research concerning tourist activity and the choice of destination by the Chicago Polonia in the form of a survey questionnaire. The research group included 1,014 people divided into 7 age sub-groups. The applied methods and statistical techniques: chi2, degree of freedom (df) and level of statistical significance (alpha). Findings. In all age groups, the factors deciding about tourist activity of the respondents and the choice of tourist destination include: the price, the cost of the trip, in second place – development of tourist facilities and in the third– fashion. The largest barrier in undertaking tourist activity for the Chicago Polonia is lack of free time (37.6%), financial barrier (31.4%) and occupational work (17.4%). Individuals who form a single-person household do not travel more often than those who run multi-person households. Research limitations and conclusions. The empirical research included only American Poles living in the Great Chicago Metropolitan Area and not the whole population of American Poles. Practical implications. The research presents the level and nature of participation in tourism of the Chicago Polonia as well as characteristics of seven factors which mutually interact and influence activity and tourist destination of them. Originality. There is a large research group. Creating one's own model of tourist activity including internal (demographic, social, cultural, economic) and external factors (geographical, political and legal , organization of tourism). Type of paper. The article presents the results of empirical research and contains a review nature of the tourist activity models known in the subject literature.
