Abstract
As a result of more than thirty years of economic reform and dynamic growth, Chinas rise has been widely recognized in the first decade of the twenty-first century. It is currently the world's second largest economy and second largest trading power. The EU remains China's largest trading partner and China is the EU's second largest trading partner. EU-China relations are a key topic in the EU's external affairs. Up till now, three 'pillars' of institutional framework have been established between the two sides, namely, the political dialogue, the economic and sectoral dialogue, and the people-to-people dialogue.
