Issues in Resident Participation: Lessons from the Israeli Experience
In: Policy studies journal: an international journal of public policy, Band 16, Heft 2, S. 290-299
Abstract
Resident participation has been a central aspect of neighborhood rehabilitation programs around the world in the last three decades. A number of general issues regarding the principle of participation & its functioning within this context can be identified. Based on a 4-year comprehensive evaluation study of Israel's Project Renewal, two such issues are addressed: (1) representative vs direct participation, ie, whether anyone represents anyone else or whether one needs to participate oneself in order to benefit; & (2) importance of the process of participation vs its product/outcome. 20 References.
