Abstract

This paper takes a tour of the news in the national press of the inauguration of the National Museum of Anthropology in 1964, and similar news, as the opening of Tepotzotlán's Museo Nacional del Virreinato, and the Museum of Modern Art, while reflecting on the national identity, heritage and the role of the museum in Mexican society and culture.
