Abstract

According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, international students contributed nearly $40 billion to the U.S. economy in 2016 and supported more than 450,000 jobs. Dick Startz, an economics professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, puts the figure even higher, at $50 billion.
