Traite des Noirs, traite des Blanches : même combat?
In: Cahiers de recherche sociologique, Heft 43, S. 121-132
ISSN: 1923-5771

Environmental trait affect
We address the need for a more systematic and comprehensive investigation of affect and emotion in the environmental domain and introduce the Environmental Trait Affect Questionnaire (ETA-Q), an instrument assessing an individual's disposition to experience affect in several types of environmentally relevant situations. Across five studies (Ntotal=9064), we confirm that individual differences in Environmental Trait Affect can reliably be described using five factors. We map the nomological network of these factors and demonstrate that they contribute substantially to the prediction of environmental judgment and decision-making in several decision situations, including consumption, investment, donation, and political decisions, over and above previously identified predictors of environmental decision-making. By investigating the interactions of ETA-Q factors with specific decision situations, both in experimental tasks and in real-life situations, we point out new strategies to leverage the adaptive function of affect and emotions to tackle a fundamental challenge of our time.

Several of the articles of the European Constitutional Treaty are presented here in excerpt for the purpose of examining the Treaty's core objectives and values where foreign policy and common defense are concerned. Articles covering the definition and objectives of the Union, relations between member states, policy concerning joint defense tactics, and solidarity constitute the first part of this presentation, while articles concerning permanent structured cooperation, financial categories, and other issues pertinent for European defense and foreign policy are presented in the second part.
Trait Emotional Intelligence and the Dark Triad Traits of Personality
In: Twin research and human genetics: the official journal of the International Society for Twin Studies (ISTS) and the Human Genetics Society of Australasia, Band 14, Heft 1, S. 35-41
ISSN: 1839-2628
This study presents the first behavioral genetic investigation of the relationships between trait emotional intelligence (trait EI or trait emotional self-efficacy) and the Dark Triad traits of narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy. In line with trait EI theory, the construct correlated positively with narcissism, but negatively with the other two traits. Generally, the correlations were consistent across the 4 factors and 15 facets of the construct. Cholesky decomposition analysis revealed that the phenotypic associations were primarily due to correlated genetic factors and secondarily due to correlated nonshared environmental factors, with shared environmental factors being nonsignificant in all cases. Results are discussed from the perspective of trait EI theory with particular reference to the issue of adaptive value.
