Studies have shown that the policy of the National Bank of Ukraine to reduce cash in circulation is not consistent. Its priority is to meet the growing demand for cash, rather than taking measures to limit cash flow. This opinion is confirmed by the data for 2020, when there was a rapid growth of cash in circulation, the ratio of which to GDP increased from 9.7% (at the level agreed with the IMF at 9.5%) to 12.3%. In Ukrainian realities, there is a direct relationship between the amount of cash in circulation and the level of the shadow economy. The more cash in circulation, the larger the shadow economy, the higher the level of corruption, the greater the number of criminal offenses. The NBU has in fact become an institution that forms the main condition of the shadow economy: it supplies a sufficient amount of cash for shadow circulation. Responding to the growing demand for cash requires significant funds to produce new cash. Such expenses are included in the NBU's administrative expenses estimate. In case of lack of own revenues of the NBU, financing of its losses should be carried out from the budget of the next year. To cover the possible deficit of the NBU, it is proposed to introduce a fee for cash payments. Its introduction is seen as a tool to limit the demand for cash in economic turnover, rather than as an ever-growing source of filling the budget. The payers of the fee will be persons who pay for the purchased goods in cash. The introduction of such a fee will stimulate the reduction of cash payments, and hence the shadow economy.

Background: The Norwegian government has indicated that health and socialstudies should emphasize interprofessional collaborative learning (IPL), especiallyin clinical placements. Through IPL, students have the opportunity to gain insightinto other professional responsibilities and minimize negative stereotypes. Thismight improve collaboration across professional boundaries. Professionals withcollaborative competence might solve complex health problems, and thus improvethe quality of healthcare. The objectives of this article are to investigate the IPLexperiences nursing students acquire through shadowing practice with differentprofessionals in home care.Methods and Findings: To develop a model for IPL, 12 nursing students spent five days shadowing four different healthcare professionals working in home care. At the end of the pedagogical intervention, the students reflected on the practice and the role of the different professionals they had followed. To investigate how the students experienced interprofessional shadowing practice, the reflective notes were analyzed, templates for the selected professionals were drawn up, and four focus group interviews were conducted The results showed that students has acquired knowledge of other professions' responsibilities and were aware of thneed for an interprofessional approach to home care.Conclusions: This kind of shadowing might be an ideal model for educationalinstitutions seeking to implement IPL.

Social work students shadowing more experienced practitioners is usually regarded as self-evidently a positive learning experience by practice educators, on-site supervisors; university tutors, and not least by the students themselves. Whilst it can form part of a formal practice learning agreement, much shadowing is also undertaken informally often on an ad hoc and impromptu basis. Given the extent to which shadowing takes place, it is a basic assumption of this paper that it must have a significant impact of what students learn about practice both in their specific placement but also more generally about social work. For this reason the primary aim of this paper is to bring more of a critical gaze onto shadowing as a learning activity in social work practice placements. The paper begins by examining the different purposes of shadowing and putting them into context. It explains how shadowing can be seen as both part of the process of socialisation into professional social work but also into a specific workplace culture. As such shadowing experiences need to be understood as part of the implicit (hidden) curriculum of social work. The second part of the paper considers some ways in which examining shadowing experiences more critically can improve certain aspects of practice. This includes understanding power relationships but also how shadowing can provide important opportunities for professional leadership. It is proposed that, often taken as a background or taken for granted activity, shadowing needs to be given a higher profile and therefore better preparation in social work practice placements.

A precise definition of the shadow economy, however, is quite difficult because the shadow economy develops all the time, adjusting to changes in taxation and regulations. Shadow economy is a complex phenomenon that has become significant in Ukraine. This phenomenon in Ukraine is one of the main barriers to European integration, increasing competitiveness in the world market, improving living standards within the country. The presence of a shadow economy indicates the activity of illegal economic activity in the country, a high level of corruption in the public sector, a low level of legal and tax morality in society. Ukraine still has a significant volume shadow economy, which significantly impairs the socio-economic development of the state. Shadow economy has become one of the most acute economic and socio-political problems in Ukraine and poses a threat to the economic and national security of the state. The shadow economy is present unevenly in different sectors of the economy. Determining the level of the shadow economy allows the government to identify which sectors have to be given priority. The work based on the analysis of a significant array of analytical and statistical material. The problem of a significant level of shadowing of the economy in Ukraine is considered. The article describes the method of calculating the level of the shadow economy and compares the levels of the shadow economy in Ukraine from 2010 to 2020. PurposeThe research technique of shadowing is the most in‐depth type of systematic, direct observation in situ of behaviours within a particular organisational or social setting, and yet, it crucially lacks documentation and critical analysis. The origins of the under‐documenting, coupled with the mutation of the scientific method of shadowing through its adoption by many industries as a means of on‐the‐job training, have led to a misunderstanding of shadowing as a scientific technique. This is problematic at several levels for academics deeply involved in qualitative methodology. The purpose of this paper is to address, in part, this gap in the literature.Design/methodology/approachBy defining shadowing, considering the reasons why shadowing has had little critique from social science scholars and then exploring the problems of it as a research technique, particularly within the current context of ethics regimes, the authors wish to proactively help to avoid unintentional yet delicate fieldwork situations, in which misunderstanding may happen due to the lay use of "shadowing" as a passive (non‐obtrusive) observation.FindingsThe authors argue that the research practice of shadowing implies specific systematic techniques and extensive self‐discipline by the researcher. It also caters for a need in data collection that oversteps traditional observation‐and‐interviewing techniques, by adding a new hermeneutical layer to the information gathered. It becomes an essential tool in the evaluation of public policy initiatives and programmes and in the understanding of not only the mechanics, but of the motivations behind actions and behaviours.Originality/valueThis paper addresses part of a gap in the literature and paves the way for more critical analysis of the dynamics that emerge during the shadowing of a research participant.

"The Anthropocene," or The Human Era, is an attempt to name our geological fate - that we will one day disappear into the layer-cake of Earth's geology - while highlighting humanity in the starring role of today's Earthly drama. In Shadowing the Anthropocene, Adrian Ivakhiv proposes an ecological realism that takes as its starting point humanity's eventual demise. The only question for a realist today, he suggests, is what to do now and what quality of compost to leave behind with our burial. The book engages with the challenges of the Anthropocene and with a series of philosophical efforts to address them, including those of Slavoj Žižek and Charles Taylor, Graham Harman and Timothy Morton, Isabelle Stengers and Bruno Latour, and William Connolly and Jane Bennett. Along the way, there are volcanic eruptions and revolutions, ant cities and dog parks, data clouds and space junk, pagan gods and sacrificial altars, dark flow, souls (of things), and jazz. Ivakhiv draws from centuries old process-relational thinking that hearkens back to Daoist and Buddhist sages, but gains incisive re-invigoration in the philosophies of Charles Sanders Peirce and Alfred North Whitehead. Taking Sino-Indian relations as a case-study, this paper examines a form of international relations that arises when emerging states share an inhabited borderland: "state-shadowing". Authority over people is crucial to effective sovereignty, yet international borderlands are often porous and heterogeneous. Borderlanders have the possibility to look across, observe and compare different state-making and nation-building projects. When neighboring states simultaneously seek to consolidate in such situations, physical closeness can become a contest to prove their superiority over the state next door—which constitutes an always discernible, readily available, and equally viable alternative political project—to local people. This fear of comparison is particularly high in post-colonial polities like China and India, struggling to transform into nations. The triangular relationship between states and non-state actors in borderland situations turns state-making and nation-building into emulative, mirroring, and competitive attempts at self-definition against the other polity. As China and India's Himalayan encounter in the 20th century attests, this fear of being compared can escalate into a destructive security dilemma. The concept of state-shadowing thus offers a framework to understand how proximity, mobility and governmentality structure the low politics between neighboring post-colonial states, and potentially contribute to conflict.
