EXECUTIVE Summary This brief outlines simplified Open Science Learning Objectives for the main stakeholders in the Research Ecosystem. Learning Objectives are structured by Open Science Topics according to a functional Open Science Taxonomy (Pontica et al., 2015), that accompany the main responsibilities of each stakeholders along the Research Lifecycle. The ultimate objective is to support the integration of Open Science best practices into the daily routine of performing and supporting research, to underpin implementation of Horizon 2020 Mandate on Access to Scientific Information, and augment the "societal impact" and uptake of research, for the benefit of all stakeholders in the knowledge creation process (ultimately underpinning "co-creation"). Specific Learning Objectives are structured in increasing level of competence, frequently ending with successful integration of Open Science best practices in the daily research routine, facilitating self-assessment of the personal workflow. The Learning Objectives can provide a backbone for a structured learning plan for Doctoral Schools with the ambition to train future researchers in optimizing their societal impact, alongside research excellence training, as well as preparing graduates for new and emerging research impact measures and criteria. Support with relevant training content will be provided in parallel through the FOSTER Portal and accompanying e-Learning and self-learning modules. The brief draws on FP7 FOSTER Work Packages 2 Content, WP3 Portal (Open Science Taxonomy, and learning portal infrastructure) and WP4 Training (Deliverable D4.5 Training ToolKit). It has been suggested that the role of the biomedical physics-engineering educator in faculties of health sciences should focus primarily on the functioning and effective and safe use of medical devices. This is a wide- ranging role which has a legal basis particularly now that the definition of the term 'medical device' has been clarified in international legislation. The array, variety and complexity of medical devices is increasing rapidly with the swift advances in healthcare technology. However as medical device education is not keeping pace so are under-utilisation and the number of adverse clinical incidents arising from improper use. This paper describes a set of generic learning objectives which can be applied to the teaching of most medical devices. Such generic learning objectives are essential to ensure a consistent and coherent approach across the curricula of the various healthcare professions and to the development of international curricula as required by, for example the Bologna process in Europe. The application of this generic approach to the subsequent setting up of profession-specific learning objectives will be briefly illustrated in the area of medical imaging device physics education for radiographers. ; N/A

This paper develops a comprehensive framework for choosing teaching methods in accounting courses. Since teaching methods vary as to the conditions they can create and different types of learning objectives require different conditions for achievement, the premise guiding the framework is that the choice of teaching methods should be based primarily on the type of learning objective. The development of the framework yields two important conclusions. First, a single teaching method typically cannot create all the conditions necessary for a given learning objective. Second, learning objectives involving complex skills require teaching methods that promote active learning on the part of students, while learning objectives involving simpler skills can be achieved with more passive teaching methods. In practical terms, an accounting instructor needs to carefully employ multiple teaching methods to achieve all the learning objectives of a given accounting course, since these objectives likely encompass the full range of types of objectives.

This chapter provides a framework for intentionally designing service‐learning experiences that contribute to leadership competency development of students. Assessment of leadership competency development is also addressed.

Background. As part of the process to develop more community-oriented medical teaching in Vietnam, eight medical schools prepared a set of standard learning objectives with attention to the needs of a doctor working with the community. Because they were prepared based on government documents and the opinions of the teachers, it was necessary to check them with doctors who had already graduated and were working at different sites in the community. Methods. Each of the eight medical faculties asked 100 practising recent graduates to complete a questionnaire to check the relevance of the skills that the teachers considered most important. We used mean and standard deviation to summarize the scores rated by the respondents for each skill and percentile at four points: p50, p25, p10 and p5 to describe the variation of scores among the respondents. Correlation coefficient was used to measure the relationship between skill levels set by the teachers and the perception of practicing doctors regarding frequency of using skills and priority for each skill. Additional information was taken from the records of focus group discussions to clarify, explain or expand on the results from the quantitative data. Results. In many cases the skills considered important by teachers were also rated as highly necessary and/or frequently used by the respondents. There were, however, discrepancies: some skills important to teachers were seldom used and not considered important by the doctors. In focus group discussions the doctors also identified skills that are not taught at all in the medical schools but would be needed by practising doctors. Conclusion. Although most of the skills and skill levels included in the learning objectives by the teachers were consistent with the opinions of their graduates, the match was not perfect. The experience of the graduates and their additional comments should be included as inputs to the definition of learning objectives for medical students. © 2007 Hoat et al; licensee BioMed Central Ltd.

Introduction Globally, nurse practitioner (NP) has become an important nursing role in the pursuit of a more efficient healthcare, possessing the necessary expert skills to work as autonomous practitioners. Nevertheless, there are barriers in the implementation of this role. One barrier concerns the different levels of education required for NPs. Previous studies demonstrate the importance of acting for a uniform international education. The aim of the scoping review was to compile research about education to become an NP, focusing on the content of curricula and learning objectives. Methods and analysis The six-stage methodological framework by Arksey and O'Malley will guide the scoping review through the following stages: identifying the research questions; identifying relevant studies; study selection; charting the data; collating, summarising and reporting the results; and consultation. The research questions are as follows: What is the content of curricula in NP programmes? What are the learning objectives in NP programmes? The literature searches will be conducted between March and June 2019 in the following databases: PubMed, CINAHL and ERIC, followed by hand searching reference lists of key studies. Grey literature will be searched in Google Scholar, Libsearch, existing networks and relevant organisations. Two researchers will screen titles and abstracts. Included full-text articles will be screened by three researchers and assessed for their methodological quality by the use of the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme. The PreferredReporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses flow diagram will be used to demonstrate included and excluded articles. The findings will be presented through a numerical summary of the included articles, followed by a thematic analysis. Ethics and dissemination Research ethics approval is not required for a scoping review. The scoping review will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal. Additionally, the findings will be disseminated to stakeholders representing political, educational, professional and union organisations through a Delphi study as part of the consultation stage of the Arksey and O'Malleys framework.

L'importanza del saper progettare si coniuga con la proposta di una centratura sui territori, nell'ambito dei quali i soggetti destinatari non sono più da considerarsi meri recettori di interventi progettati a monte, ma protagonisti attivi degli stessi. L'educatore, in siffatto frangente, assume un ruolo eminentemente politico e adotta l'idea-guida dell'animazione socio-culturale, così da connettere il piano della progettualità con quello della progettazione vera e propria. Si offrono, infine, delle analisi inerenti ai contenuti core della classe delle lauree L-19, individuati, a livello nazionale, attraverso il progetto di ricerca Teco-D Pedagogia; delle piste di ricerca e delle linee di contaminazione attuativa fra i teorici e i pratici; alcune proposte contenutistiche relative al percorso di formazione degli educatori di nido e socio-pedagogici in ordine al tema ineludibile, e talora trascurato, della progettazione educativa. ; The importance of knowing how to design is constantly and inevitably experienced in the concreteness of the territories. In the social field, the recipients are no longer to be considered mere receptors of interventions planned upstream, but active protagonists. In this situation, the educator assumes an eminently political role and adopts the socio-cultural animation framework, connecting individual projectuality and community planning. Finally, the article presents an analysis of the core contents of the degrees class L-19, identified, at the national level, through the research project Teco-D Pedagogia; some research paths and lines of contamination and implementation between researchers and professionals; various content proposals related to the training path of kindergarten and socio-pedagogical educators in order to the unavoidable, and sometimes neglected, theme of educational planning.

This paper discusses New Product Development (NPD) Process and the perception required for effective NPD Learning (NPDL). A model of learning for NPD organisations is presented and the necessity to assess progression towards learning objectives at the individual, job and organisation level is shown. Three aspects of organisational groundwork are identified and discussed. These include developing the NPD process, implementing the NPD strategy and allocating resources for NPD and NPDL. Ten sets of learning objectives are identified and discussed. These are organisational analysis, barrier demolition, team working, flexible problem solving, use of advanced support tools, facilitating communication, maintaining communication, decision making, assessment of the NPD process and NPDL, and NPD risk analysis. It is proposed that adopting both an organisational needs analysis and individual needs analyses can support the development of NPD organisations. These analyses will identify the groundwork that should be undertaken by the organisation and the initial learning objectives for the individuals. The progression of NPD through the NPD process can then be assessed and implemented sufficiently.
