The article demonstrates how Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) geographic headings for the Southern Levant mirror the political investment of Congress and the American public in Middle East politics over the last thirty years. The headings' evolution as well as Library of Congress rules governing their creation is charted in detail. These LCSH headings contrast markedly with those established in other national libraries (BnF, DNB) and independent value vocabularies (TGN, GeoNames), and global opinion regarding the legal status of the occupied territories. I sketch the historical context of their formation and offer suggestions as to how libraries can "decolonize" their metadata in service of Sanford Berman's "access and equity."
This exhibition presents the project being carried out by the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences (National University of La Plata) in two secondary schools in the High District of San Lorenzo. It is framed and financed by the Programme of the Ministry of National Education: The University in the Barrios, the Barrios at the University, which consolidates actions "to carry out activities aimed at democratisation of access to higher university education, strengthening the virtuous link between our Public University and the Territory". In this way, efforts are made to create strategies to bridge the gap that establishes the social origin in terms of access to higher education, to build bridges to enable successful transit through the education system, and in particular through universities. The aim is that secondary students of the last year can be linked to the UNLP. It therefore proposes activities that encourage, inform, teach, experience and appreciate university life and its demands; the subject of the study is bodily practices and what has been called university literacy. In a second step, support will be developed on the basis of the possibilities offered by the space where such an initiative will take place. To sum up, this project seeks, on the one hand, to prepare young people for university requirements, promoting equal opportunities for a non-traumatic transition through the academic journey and, on the other, to invite them to accompany them in their studies, and to assist them in accessing scholarships to alleviate their economic difficulties, widening their life horizons, through the academic world, impacting on the democratisation of access to higher education and improving the quality of life of the population. Summary This article presents the results of a cogenerative action research, the objective of which was to assess a teaching module designed from the Chilean presidential election in 2017, which was aimed at developing citizen competences and encouraging expectations of future electoral participation in young people in secondary schools. To take it forward, a collaborative partnership was established between the professional research team and a school teacher, following Greenwood and Levin's approaches. In particular, 29 students inquired and discussed for four weeks the proposals of the various candidates and candidates, as well as the socially living issues associated with them. It was subsequently explored in his ideas on the activities carried out, by means of questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and a discussion group. In addition, classroom observations were made and the teacher was interviewed. The information obtained was then processed on the basis of the qualitative analysis method of content. The results point to the effectiveness of the module put in place in the development of citizens' competences and to a high assessment of the student with regard to the discussion of the social reality in classes in an atmosphere of respect for the various opinions. The conclusions set out a number of strengths and weaknesses to be taken into account in their future applications. The transmission of memories on the dictatorship that occurs in schools is framed by a set of policies that indicate what is officially put into the transmission. Memory policies, educational policies and their intersections are the scene of school processes transmitting reports on the dictatorship. The configuration of these narratives to analyze confrontations, disputes and rearticulations of memory on the dictatorship having circulation in the school system. This, especially secondary schools, were set the stage for a militancy for the memories. The disputes referred to the character of confrontations charged when the student organizations were formed in carriers actors in a specific memory, which is also associated with the construction of their own identity ; La transmisión de las memorias sobre la dictadura que se produce en las escuelas está enmarcada en un conjunto de políticas que indican aquello que es puesto oficialmente en la transmisión. Las políticas de memoria, las políticas educativas y sus intersecciones son el escenario de los procesos de transmisión escolar de las memorias sobre la dictadura. La configuración de estas narrativas permite analizar las confrontaciones, disputas y rearticulaciones de las memorias sobre la dictadura que tienen circulación en el sistema educativo. Este, y en particular las escuelas secundarias, se constituyeron en escenario de una militancia por las memorias. Peer reviewed ; [EN] The subject of teaching Historic and Cultural Heritage in primary and secondary schools has been widely covered in the last few years. However, the specific topic on Heritage conservation has been barely developed despite its transcendence from the point of view of future preservation of Heritage items. This paper presents the theoretical and practical background in which the design of a didactic unit on Heritage conservation has been based. Among the main objectives which are intended to be covered by such a didactic unit are the significance of the Cultural Heritage, the importance of its conservation, the recognition of Heritage locales, when is important to conserve them, differences between conservation and restoration, the influence of environmental conditions and so on. Possible evaluation activities and suitable schools in which the unit could be put into practice are also some of the subjects dealt with in this contribution. Entretecida entre a história institucional e os saberes escolares, o artigo descreve uma parte da reforma universitária efetuada na "Universidad Nacional de la Plata", particularmente em seus colégios do ensino médio, num momento histórico de muita convulsão —finais dos anos sessenta e inicios dos setenta do século xx— em ração aos diversos setores do peronismo que disputavam o governo da universidade. A politização dos saberes escolares julgou ações de intervenção direita sob o ensino, os códigos e os planejamentos cujas tendências modulam resistências, mobilizações, militâncias e projetos que aspiram uns à ordem e outros à liberação. ; In the frame of institutional history and school knowledges, the article describes some of the reforms performed at the National University of La Plata, particularly in its secondary schools, in a time of agitation during the last century —late sixties and early seventies— because of the different Peronist sectors that struggled to rule the university. This Working Paper builds on the scientific discourse on valuation of SSH research as well as SSH-integration in EU framework programmes and aims at summarizing the key findings from the November 2018 Austrian EU Presidency Conference "Impact of Social Sciences and Humanities for a European Research Agenda - Valuation of SSH in mission-oriented research". It deals with the topic in three instalments. First, it will discuss recent trends in research funding. Second, it provides a brief historical overview of the efforts of integrating SSH into the EU Research Framework Programme. It then adds some observations about continued challenges in SSH. Finally, it will conclude with some suggestions for SSH scholars, based on the discussions from the conference. In that regard the Working Paper is also a document for further reading for those who have read earlier, shorter texts that were published in preparation of that conference.

Abstract The work we present is an ongoing research project on school inclusion, its implications for education, and an analysis of quality indicators. The research's main objective is to analyze the beliefs and training needs that teachers have on inclusive education to consider some quality indicators for their training. The research was conducted at all levels of the Spain's education system, except for higher education, i.e., namely early childhood education, primary education, secondary education, baccalaureate, and training modules. The study uses a qualitative research approach. Interviews were conducted with an open-ended questionnaire, one per interviewee, except for the principal and head teacher, who were interviewed as members of the board. Based on the analysis of data, results, and conclusions, we propose quality indicators to guide teachers' training. The most relevant indicators are linked to the need to promote an inclusive educational model in which schools develop inclusive institutional projects, and teacher training is aligned with educational inclusion. This model is based on learning programs aligned with inclusive educational practices and needs and focuses on comprehension, democracy, and participation principles.
