The burgeoning trend of pursuing publication in a leading journal, as a benchmark of standard doctoral research, has become an appealing expectation of early-stage doctoral researchers (ESDR). However, recent pedagogical studies showed limited attention to exploring the dynamic relations between doctoral education and the academic publication process. Our aim was to investigate and understand (if and) how this intricately intertwined relation contributes to the scholarly publication practice in doctoral education from an individual and institutional context. We used a duo-analytic autoethnography approach and presented a comprehensive narrative based on the authors' self-reflections by using a range of data sources namely research diaries, journaling, seminars, training courses, online forum talking, and web-based open sources. Through our autoethnographic narrative, we found five key aspects associated with publication practices in doctoral programs: quality-quantity debate, authorship dilemma, journal selection process, publishing in leading journals, and publication process. We additionally mapped out a conclusive publication cycle to demonstrate how dominant structural factors of the doctoral program subsequently affect the publication process, influence ESDR's decision-making, and potentially reinforce academic pressures. Based on our study findings, we concluded that doctoral education should remain research intensive rather than a simplified way of obtaining a higher academic qualification.
Doctoral education is an increasingly prevalent part of the worldwide higher education landscape. Although there are variations in how programs are constructed and delivered, there is general agreement that evidence of creativity is expected in the final thesis. Despite the significant attention the supervisory process has received in the literature, students' views on creativity as it applies to their candidature have not been extensively explored. This article reports on interviews with a sample of 12 current doctoral students in the areas of the arts, social sciences, and education from the theoretical perspective of the systems model of creativity. Interview participants were invited to reflect on the concept of creativity, and the factors which support or constrain their potential to be creative. The findings reveal that on reflection, students are able to identify the creative elements of their work, however the findings also indicate that creativity education should be given greater focus in doctoral programs, in order to embed this important concept and process to support students' learning journey.
BACKGROUND: The need for graduate education in Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy Research (POPR) is becoming increasingly apparent worldwide. However, the number of professionals in this field is inadequate in the Middle East. Therefore, this study aimed at gaining insight into the perceived value of a potential Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program in POPR among different stakeholders in Saudi Arabia. METHODS: Following the development of a Ph.D. program structure in POPR, a questionnaire was created to explore the perception of its value among decision-makers in different healthcare and governmental institutions. An email with detailed information on the proposed program was sent to 131 identified individuals along with an online link to the questionnaire. RESULTS: Responses were provided by 107 (81.67%) individuals. The majority of respondents (53.3%) represented large organizations with more than 500 workers; hospitals and academia were the most represented types of institutions. More than 85% of the participants strongly agreed that the program will meet the needs of the healthcare market in Saudi Arabia and that there will be a demand for graduates of the program over the next 5–10 years. However, only 28.04% of the participants declared that they would definitely recommend the program to their colleagues and employees, and 49.53% would consider employing its graduates. CONCLUSIONS: The obtained results indicate a significant interest among different stakeholders in introducing a Ph.D. program in POPR in Saudi Arabia.
This thesis explores how cultural heritage plays a role in the development of urban identity by engaging both actively and passively with memory, i.e. remembering and forgetting. I argue that architectural heritage is a medium where specific cultural and social decisions form its way of presentation, and it reflects the values and interests of the period. By the process of remembering and forgetting, the meanings between inhabitant and object in urban environment are practiced, and the meanings are created. To enable the research in narrative observation, cultural tourism management is chosen as the main research object, which reflects the alteration of interaction between the architectural heritage and urban identity. Identifying the role of heritage management, the definition of social resilience and the prospects of cultural heritage as a means of social resilience are addressed. Case region of the research is East Ger- many, thereby, the study examines the distinct approaches and objectives regarding heritage management under the different political systems along the German reunification process. The framework is based on various theoretical paradigms to investigate the broad research questions: 1) What is the role of historic urban quarters in the revitalisation of East German towns? 2) How was the transition processed by cultural heritage management? 3) How did policy affect residents' lives? The case study is applied to macro level (city level: Gotha and Eisenach) and micro level study (object level: specific heritage sites), to analyse the performance of selective remembering and making tourist destination through giving significance to specific heritage. By means of site observations, archival research, qualitative inter- views, photographs, and discourse analysis on printed tourism materials, the study demonstrates that certain sites and characteristics of the city enable creating and focusing messages, which aids the social resilience. Combining theory and empirical studies this thesis attempts to widen the academic discussion regarding the practice of remembering and forgetting driven by cultural heritage. The thesis argues for cultural heritage tourism as an element of social resilience and one that embraces the historic and cultural identity of the inhabitants.
The progressing of the Uzbek linguistics and learning approaches to language, especially, problems of cognitive linguistics have been analyzed in the article. The results show that cognitive approach and methods of cognitive language materials carried out legislation of lexical units of the Uzbek language, as the materials of the Uzbek language indicate the reasons of conceptual connection of linguistic units, including the semantic factor of cognitive linguistic connection were illuminated in the article. The main characteristics of idiomatic units were based on conceptual connection. Some idiomatic words of the Uzbek language were translated into English with their equivalents. A variety of Uzbek language materials is based on the perception of reality, knowledge, opportunities linguistic memory of people. The article is dedicated to the research of ways of idiomaticity in the Uzbek word formation. It describes various causes of emergence of idiomaticity in compound words. The aim of the research work is the study of the cognitive aspect of idiomatic words of the Uzbek language. The role of cognitive mechanisms in word formation and verbalization of language units is considered as one of the topical problems of linguistics. The author of the article analyzes the cognitive bases of the formation of the idiomatic words in the Uzbek language. Conceptual metonymy, conceptual metaphor and metaphtonymy were demonstrated as basic cognitive mechanisms in the formation of idiomatic words. Moreover, the article covers the problems of engendering of idiomatic words as a result of human being's understanding of the world, their reflection in human being's cognition and the process of reflection of cognitive mechanisms in the formation of the concept.
การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความเป็นไปได้ในการพัฒนาหลักสูตรปรัชญาดุษฎีบัณฑิต สาขาวิชาการจัดการท่องเที่ยว โรงแรม และงานอีเวนท์ ซึ่งเป็นการวิจัยแบบผสมผสาน ระหว่างการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณและเชิงคุณภาพ สำหรับประชากรที่ใช้ศึกษาในการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณได้แก่ ผู้ที่คาดว่าจะศึกษาต่อจำนวน 400 คน และผู้ประกอบการจำนวน 100 คน โดยใช้การสุ่มตัวอย่างโดยการเลือกแบบเจาะจง เครื่องมือที่ใช้เป็นแบบสอบถาม สรุปข้อมูลด้วยสถิติเชิงพรรณนา สำหรับการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพใช้วิธีการวิจัยเอกสาร และการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก ผู้ให้ข้อมูลหลักจำนวน 17 คน ใช้แนวสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกเป็นเครื่องมือ ผลการศึกษาปรากฏว่าแนวทางการพัฒนาหลักสูตร ภายใต้ขั้นการพัฒนาหลักสูตรของโบแชมพ์ องค์ประกอบหลักสูตรมี 4 ส่วน คือ 1) ขอบข่ายเนื้อหา 2) เป้าหมายหรือวัตถุประสงค์เฉพาะ 3) การวางแผนการใช้หลักสูตร และ 4) การพิจารณาตัดสิน สำหรับการศึกษาความต้องการ พบว่า ผู้คาดว่าจะมาเรียน มีระดับความคิดเห็นต่อความต้องการโดยรวม อยู่ในระดับมาก สำหรับในส่วนของผลการศึกษาของผู้ประกอบการ มีระดับความคิดเห็นของด้านคุณธรรมจริยธรรม ด้านความรู้ความสามารถเกี่ยวกับงาน ด้านเชาว์ปัญญา ด้านความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างบุคคลและความรับผิดชอบ ตลอดจนระดับความรู้ความสามารถในการปฏิบัติงานที่เกี่ยวข้องกับสายงานด้านการท่องเที่ยว โรงแรม และงานอีเวนท์โดยรวม อยู่ในระดับมากทุกด้าน และในด้านของสถานการณ์ที่เหมาะสมในการจัดการการศึกษาในพัฒนาหลักสูตร พบว่า การสร้างบัณฑิตที่สามารถคิดได้ ทำงานได้จริง สามารถตอบสนองความต้องการของสังคมได้ อีกทั้งในเรื่องของการทำวิจัยเป็นสิ่งที่สามารถนำไปพัฒนาสังคมได้ในทุกด้าน ไม่ว่าจะเป็นในเรื่องของการเมืองเศรษฐกิจ และวัฒนธรรม ในเรื่องของการจัดทำหลักสูตร หลักสูตรจะมีความทันสมัยอยู่เสมอก็จะทำให้หลักสูตรนี้เกิดความยั่งยืน และจากการศึกษาความเป็นไปได้ของหลักสูตรพบว่า มีความเป็นไปได้สูงหากคณะวิทยาการจัดการมหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากรจะเปิดสอนในหลักสูตรดังกล่าว โดยพบว่าหากดำเนินการลงทุนเปิดหลักสูตรจะคืนทุนในปีที่ 8 และอัตราผลตอบแทนภายใน (Internal Rate of Return: IRR) ปีที่ 5 ได้เท่ากับ -29 % ปีที่ 10 ได้เท่ากับ 16 % ปีที่ 15 ได้เท่ากับ 21 % และปีที่ 20 ได้เท่ากับ 23% และมูลค่าปัจจุบันสุทธิ (Net Present Value :NPV) ได้เท่ากับ 4,341,983.52 บาทมีค่ามากกว่าศูนย์ จึงเห็นควรน่าลงทุนเนื่องจากค่า IRR มีค่ามากกว่าผลตอบแทนจากการลงทุนอื่นๆเช่นการนำเงินไปฝากธนาคาร ลงทุนในตราสารหนี้อื่นๆ ทองคำและหุ้นสามัญ และNPV มีค่ามากกว่าศูนย์แต่ในช่วงหลังตั้งแต่ปีที่ 15 เป็นต้นไปทางคณะวิทยาการจัดการจะมีต้นทุนที่สูงขึ้นแต่ในทางตรงกันข้ามรายได้ที่ได้รับเท่าเดิม ดังนั้นในช่วงนั้นจึงจำเป็นที่จะต้องมีการรับนักศึกษาเพิ่มขึ้นเพื่อเป็นการเพิ่มรายได้ให้แก่คณะวิทยาการจัดการ This research aimed to study the feasibility of the development of the Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Hotel, Tourism, and Event Management, which was a mixed research study of qualitative and quantitative research. For the population to be studied in the quantitative study, 400 people and 100 entrepreneurs that were sampled by purposive sampling. The tool used was a questionnaire. The statistics used for data analysis was descriptive statistics. The tools used for qualitative research were documentary research and in-depth interviews. There were 17 key informants who participated in in-depth interviews as tools. Study results curriculum development guidelines under the curriculum development stage of Bochamp The curriculum components have 4 parts: 1) content scope, 2) specific goals or objectives, 3) curriculum implementation planning, and 4) decision making. For the study of the needs, it was found that discovered that overall opinions on demands of people who intended to study were in high As for the part of the studies regarding the entrepreneurs, overall opinions regarding morality and ethics, work-related knowledge and abilities, wisdom, relations between individuals and responsibility as well as wisdom regarding performance in the field of tourism, hotels, and events were all in high levels. And in the aspect of appropriate situations in educational management in curriculum development, it was found that the creation of graduates who can think and actually work can meet the needs of society. In addition, research is something that can be used to develop society in all aspects. Whether it is in politics, economy and culture, about the curriculum. The course will always be up-to-date and will make this course sustainable. And from the feasibility study of the curriculum, it was found that It is highly likely that the Faculty of Management Sciences at Silpakorn University will open the course. It is found that if the investment is conducted, the program will return capital in the 8th year and the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) for the 5th year is -29%, the 10th year is equal to 16%, the 15th year is 21. % And year 20 equals 23% and net present value (NPV) equals 4,341,983.52 baht, greater than zero Therefore it is advisable to invest because the IRR value is greater than the return from other investments such as depositing money into banks. Invest in other debt securities Gold and ordinary shares and NPV are greater than zero, but in the latter, from the 15th year onwards, the Faculty of Management Science will have higher costs but on the contrary, the income received is the same. Therefore, it was necessary to receive more students in order to increase income for the Faculty of Management Science.
Abstract. The description of the current state of providing scientific and pedagogical training for Candidates taking a Postgraduate course and pursuing Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degreein Ukraine has been presented in the research. Some contradictions in the requirements for scientific and pedagogical training in the main legislative and normative documents that determine the training for Candidates taking a Postgraduate course and pursuing PhD Degreehavebeen revealed. The empirical models of scientific and pedagogical training for Candidates taking a Postgraduate course and pursuing PhD Degreecould be defined, due to the existing state of postgraduate training process in higher education institutions.The proposals on the development of the pedagogical component of programmes of study and research in accordance with the pedagogical training at the previous levels of education of postgraduates have been made. Vor dem Hintergrund der wechselvollen Geschichte Eritreas (bis 1941 mit Äthiopien zu Italienisch-Ostafrika verschmolzen, 1941 unter britische Militärverwaltung, 1950-1952 unter UN-Aufsicht gestellt. 1952 Angliederung an Äthiopien als autonomes Gebiet, 1960 Eingliederung als Provinz) und der sozialen, kulturellen und ökonomischen Entwicklung der Region analysiert die Dissertation die Entstehung und die Entwicklung der politischen Parteien in diesem Land, wobei im Vordergrund die separatistischen und irredentistischen, die Autonomie- und Befreiungsbewegungen stehen.
