Abstract

Research background: E-commerce is developing rapidly, especially during the Covid19 pandemic. This fact can benefit individuals who want to sell their already used goods. Importantly, for sellers, it is not always a priority to get the highest price, but sometimes it is simply effective to get rid of the goods at a satisfactory price.

Purpose: The aim of this article is to analyze the impact of the broadly understood time of the end of the online auction on the success or failure of a sale.

Research methodology: In the study, the raw odds ratio was used for the effect of a single variable. Next, the impact of specific variables within the set of risk factors was determined using the logistic regression.

Results: Auctions ending in the evening were found to be more than 150% more likely to be successful, while night hours reduced the chance of success by 50%. The day's most favorable for sales are Monday and Tuesday, the opposite pattern was observed for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. An interesting relationship was found for the second half of the month, which increased the possibility of selling the goods by over 20%.

Novelty: In the literature there are almost none that would focus on the analysis of the possibility of ending the auction with a sale (i.e. success) in the context of the auction end time on the Central European market. This issue is usually discussed on the side and has not been analyzed comprehensively – this paper is a step forward in this direction.

All healthcare organizations process "sensitive data" that needs special protection. To ensure an appropriate level of security for this data, it is necessary to allocate adequate financial resources for security measures. The exploratory aim of the research here is the recognition of the current state of information security management systems in selected entities performing medical activities. An analysis and evaluation of these systems and the financing of information security were conducted. The methods and techniques used in the research are Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews, literature studies, and a questionnaire survey with applications for access to public information. The subjects of the research were medical entities subordinate to the local governments of three Polish voivodeships (Łódź, Świętokrzyskie and Pomeranian). The research was conducted between 2017 and 2018. Research findings show that the surveyed entities did not properly manage information security and did not allocate adequate financial resources to ensure information security. The lack of efficient information security management in medical entities may entail negative consequences in the future. ; Wszystkie organizacje opieki zdrowotnej przetwarzają "dane wrażliwe", które wymagają specjalnej ochrony. W celu zapewnienia właściwego poziomu bezpieczeństwa tych danych, konieczne jest przeznaczenie odpowiednich środków finansowych. Celem poznawczym badań jest rozpoznanie istniejącego stanu systemów zarządzania bezpieczeństwem informacji w wybranych podmiotach wykonujących działalność leczniczą. Przeprowadzono analizę i ocenę tych systemów oraz finansowania bezpieczeństwa informacji. W badaniach wykorzystano następujące metody i techniki: wspomagany komputerowo wywiad telefoniczny, studia literaturowe i ankietę z wnioskiem o udostępnienie informacji publicznej. Przedmiotem badań były podmioty medyczne podległe samorządom trzech polskich województw (łódzkie, świętokrzyskie, pomorskie). Badanie było prowadzone w latach 2017-2018. Wyniki badania pokazują, że badane podmioty nieprawidłowo zarządzały bezpieczeństwem informacji i nie przeznaczały odpowiednich środków finansowych na zapewnienie bezpieczeństwa informacji. Brak efektywnego zarządzania bezpieczeństwem informacji w podmiotach medycznych może mieć wpływ na wystąpienie incydentów w przyszłości.

AbstractTriclosan (TCS) is a widespread environmental endocrine-disrupting chemical. Animal and in vitro studies suggested that triclosan may affect homesostasis of sex and thyroid hormones and impact on reproduction. Due to limited data derived from human epidemiological studies, this study was performed to examine the association between urinary concentration of triclosan and in vitro reproductive outcomes (methaphase II (MII) oocyte yield, top quality embryo, fertilization rate, implantation rate, and clinical pregnancy) among women from infertility clinic. The study participants were enrolled in an Infertility Center in Poland. A total of 450 women aged 25–45 (n = 674 IVF cycles) provided urine samples. The urinary concentrations of triclosan were evaluated using validated gas chromatography ion-tap mass spectrometry method. Clinical outcomes of IVF treatment were abstracted from patients electronic chart records. Triclosan was detected in urine of 82% of women with geometric mean 2.56 ± 6.13 ng/mL. Urinary concentrations of triclosan were associated with decrease implantation rate (p = 0.03). There were no association between other examined IVF outcomes: MII oocytes, embryo quality, fertilization rate, and exposure to triclosan. As this is one of the first study on this topic, studies among larger and more diverse population are needed to confirm the results.
