Our purpose in this 1-year, 3-wave longitudinal study was to investigate the relationships among job demands, job resources, personal resources, and job burnout in a group of 263 Chinese employees. Specifically, we examined the mediating role of personal resources in the relationships
between job resources and job burnout, and between job demands and job burnout, as well as the reversed effect of job burnout on job demands and job resources. The results showed that job demands positively affected job burnout, whereas job and personal resources negatively affected job burnout
over a 6-month period. Further, personal resources mediated the relationship between job resources and job burnout, but not that between job demands and job burnout. In addition, job burnout had a reversed effect on job demands and job resources. Implications are discussed in relation to balancing
job demands and resources, and avoiding job burnout by utilizing personal resources.

In this study we assessed the regulatory emotional self-efficacy (RESE) of Chinese college students by collecting documentary resources and consulting relevant scales. The participants in the study were 927 college students from the provinces of Jiangsu, Guangdong, Anhui, and Gansu.
Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were both applied in the scale analysis. The RESE scale of Chinese college students consisted of perceived self-efficacy in managing inferiority, happiness or contentment, envy, dread and fear, self-confidence, curiosity, and reliance.
The cross-validity of the scale was satisfied.

We explored the possibility of a relationship between mindfulness and burnout among Chinese civil pilots, and investigated the mediating effects of fatigue and proactive coping in this relationship. Participants were 319 civil pilots employed by China Southern Airlines, who completed
a survey. Structural equation modeling was used to test the hypothesized parallel mediation model. Results show that the direct effect of mindfulness on burnout was not significant, but mindfulness had an important preventative effect on burnout. Furthermore, fatigue and proactive coping completely
mediated the effect of mindfulness on burnout. Consequently, our findings corroborate the predictive role of fatigue and proactive coping in mediating the indirect effect that mindfulness exerted on burnout. Theoretical implications and practical recommendations for pilots' mindfulness training
practice and fatigue risk management systems are discussed.

This study aimed at examining the relationships among subjective family socioeconomic status (FSES), self-esteem (SE), social support (SS), and life satisfaction (LS) in two independent samples of Chinese adolescents. In Study 1, 510 adolescents were asked to complete a multi-section questionnaire. The mediation analyses indicated that subjective FSES predicted LS through three pathways. First, subjective FSES predicted LS through the mediating effect of SE. Second, subjective FSES predicted LS through the mediating effect of SS. Third, subjective FSES predicted LS through the serial mediating effect of SS and SE. Besides, the contrast tests revealed that the mediating effect of SE had no significant difference with that of SS. To test whether the above results are stable and replicable, we further conducted a validation study in Sample 2 ( N = 405) and found all the results remained significant. Implications for future research and limitations are discussed.

Objective This study investigated the effect of reliability on the function allocation (FA) boundary by examining the interaction effect of degree of automation (DOA) and reliability on routine performance, failure performance, and attention allocation. Background According to the lumberjack effect, an increase in DOA will typically improve routine performance, while failure performance may remain undeteriorated until a specific, high DOA threshold is reached. This threshold can be regarded as the FA boundary. Considering that both DOA and reliability can influence failure performance through attention allocation, it is crucial to investigate how reliability affects the FA boundary. Method Participants performed three MATB tasks, one of which, the system monitoring task, was supported by four types of automation: information acquisition (IAc), information analysis (IAn), action selection (AS), and action implementation (AI). From IAc to AI, the DOA incrementally increased. Additionally, automation reliability was set to three levels, namely, 87.50%, 68.75%, and 56.25%. Results For routine performance, participants assisted by AS reacted more rapidly to gauge malfunctions than those supported by IAc or IAn. For failure performance, participants aided by AI corrected gauge malfunctions less frequently than other participants. Correspondingly, participants supported by AI exhibited fewer fixation counts on the system monitoring task than did others. Conclusion It appears that the FA boundary lies between AS and AI. However, there is insufficient evidence to support the effect of reliability on the FA boundary. Application These findings can provide useful insights for improving the design of automated systems in complex working environments.
