Nuclear power plants (NPP) are subject to stiff requirements as to the cost effectiveness of their operation. However, since the NPP operation may be associated with the occurrence of severe environmental, social, political, material and other consequences as the result of nuclear and radiological accidents at NPPs, ensuring the specified level of the NPP safety is an operational task of the utmost importance. The current practice of the NPP design and operation suggests that the objectives involved in improving the efficiency of operation and those of ensuring the NPP safety level required by federal standards and regulations (NP-001) are achieved in isolation: no issues of ensuring high efficiency of the NPP operation are taken into account when addressing the issues involved in ensuring the safety of the NPP and, vice versa, it is a priori assumed that the required level of safety is ensured at any time when high efficiency of operation is achieved. The reason for this is the absence of procedures that make it possible to assess, in an integrated manner, the interdependence of economic and technological factors. The paper describes some of the methods to raise the efficiency of the NPP operation by selecting the best possible NPP maintenance and repair (M&R) strategies leading to high utilization and capacity factor values. A distinctive feature of the proposed techniques is that the efficiency of the NPP operation is proposed to be improved while ensuring at the same time the required level of the NPP safety with any NPP configuration.

The article deals with the peculiarities of transformation of ideas and social attitudes of residents of post-Soviet countries concerning family life and close relationships. The article is based on the analysis of the results of the third and sixth waves of the international longitudinal study — World Values Survey. The authors substantiate the conclusion that traditional value orientations are widely spread in post-Soviet countries as an adaptation strategy of the state and society in response to big challenges. At the same time, the article concludes about ambivalence and asymmetry of transformations in the sphere of close relationships. There are four models of such relations in post-Soviet countries. According to the authors, state policy plays a special role in the transformation of close relations. It is pro-tanalistic in nature, does not take into account the peculiarities of different forms and types of relationships and is mainly focused on increasing childbearing. This undoubtedly reduces its potential as a mechanism for adapting the state to the situation of demographic transition.

The article deals with the problem that arose in the collision of globalisation processes in economics, finance, politics and traditional social institutions, primarily the family. The authors come to the conclusion that the issue of preserving traditional family values, which are the basis and condition for existence and successful development for all peoples living in Russia, acquires a special role. The greatest public resonance is the issue of traditional and "non-traditional" concepts of the family, which actualises the problem of legal protection of traditional family values in Russia. The 2020 constitutional amendments are analysed.
