The Negative Effects of Long Time Physical Activity Calorie Equivalent Labeling on Purchase Intention for Unhealthy Food
(1) Background: Obesity has become a global epidemic that arouse much attention from governments, companies and scholar. Physical activity calorie equivalent (PACE) labels are introduced as a more effective nudge invention on less-calorie ordering. However, the effects of PACE labels are controversial in previous literature, thus, the research objective is to explore the effects of different PACE labels and furtherly to explore the underlying psychological mechanism; (2) Methods: Across four scenario-based experiments, involving potato chips, chocolate and cookies, this study manipulated the three calorie-information labeling (standard calorie label, long time PACE and short time PACE labels). Meanwhile, the mediating mechanism of the effects involving anticipatory guilt and the moderation effects between consumers' future self-continuity and PACE labels are also measured; (3) Results: Results show that compared with the short time PACE and calorie labels, the longtime PACE labels have more negative influence on consumers' purchase intention for unhealthy food. What's more, the anticipatory guilt has negative effect of PACE labels as consumers are often prone to feeling guilty in the process of unhealthy food consumption. In addition, individuals with high future self-continuity have higher self-control and take more consideration of future outcomes, they are reluctant to choose unhealthy food than others; (4) Conclusions: Unhealthy food with a long time PACE label has more negative effect on consumers' purchase intention rather than a short time PACE label. At the same time, companies that produce healthy foods should actively participate in the movement to label calories through the PACE labels.

Channel diversity, constructive and destructive conflicts: the moderating role of network centrality
In: The journal of business & industrial marketing, Band 39, Heft 11, S. 2438-2449
ISSN: 2052-1189
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the impact of channel diversity on constructive and destructive conflicts in manufacturer-distributor relationships, as well as the mediating role of distributor opportunism and the moderating role of distributor network centrality.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper collected channel dual data to represent channel behavior in manufacturer-distributor relationships accurately. Using 208 matched manufacturer distributor bilateral data from Chinese B2B firms validate the conceptual model. This paper tested the proposed hypothesis using AMOS 24.0 software.
Findings
Channel diversity strengthens constructive conflict and weakens destructive conflict between manufacturers and distributors. Distributor opportunism plays a mediating role between channel diversity and constructive conflict. Distributor network centrality reinforces the positive impact of channel diversity on constructive conflict and the impact of channel diversity on destructive conflict.
Originality/value
This research contributes significantly to developing channel diversity and conflict theory by expanding the dyadic view to a network view. It also provides valuable insights for managers, highlighting the importance of maintaining a good relationship with distributors with high network centrality. The research results allow the constructive aspects of channel conflict to manifest fully and enhance the effectiveness of channel management. Distributor firms should prioritize communication and contact with network members to increase their network centrality, enabling them to take more initiative, exert influence and establish advantageous cooperative partnerships with manufacturers.
The Influence of ESG Performance on Corporate Value: An Empirical Analysis of Chinese A-Share Listed Sports Companies
In: Sage open, Band 14, Heft 2
ISSN: 2158-2440
This study uses a two-way fixed-effect model to analyze the impact of ESG performance on corporate value based on the quarterly data of Chinese A-share listed sports companies from 2018 to 2022. The results prove that (1) The ESG performance of sports enterprises positively affects corporate value: the higher the ESG score is, the higher the corporate value is. (2) Mechanism analysis shows that financing constraints play a partially mediating role in the relationship between ESG performance and corporate value. (3) Heterogeneity analysis shows that corporate political relations will weaken the facilitating effect of ESG performance on corporate value. The stronger the political relations are, the weaker the facilitating effect of ESG performance on corporate value. Compared with that during the bear market, the performance of ESG in the bull market has a greater facilitating effect on corporate value. Compared with sports service enterprises, sports goods enterprises' ESG performance has a stronger facilitating effect on corporate value.

Improving relationship performance on platforms: the role of platform technology usage in promoting justice
In: The journal of business & industrial marketing, Band 34, Heft 5, S. 965-976
ISSN: 2052-1189
Purpose
Technology has dramatically changed the nature of interorganizational relationships and the ways partners interact with each other. In the new platform business model, platform technology usage seems to work as a governance mechanism to regulate operations and manage platform builder–platform participant relationships. To respond to these changes, this study aims to examine how platform technology usage in platform operations influenced the relationship quality between the platform builder and platform participants by promoting perceptions of three types of justice (procedural, distributive and informational).
Design/methodology/approach
The authors propose that it is through the perception of three types of justice (procedural, distributive and informational) that platform technology usage exerts its governance effect on the platform relationship. In doing this, the authors seek to answer the following two related research questions in the platform setting: How does platform technology usage drive relationship performance via different types of justice perceptions? Which type of justice affects relationship performance most effectively?
Findings
The results from a survey of 384 participant firms from two of the largest digital platforms for mobile/PC application in China reveal that platform technology usage leads to better relationship performance through enhanced perceptions of procedural, distributive, and informational justice. The positive impacts of procedural justice and distributive justice on relationship performance are greater than that of informational justice, while the impacts of procedural justice and distributive justice show no significant differences.
Originality/value
These findings provide novel insights into the role and mechanisms of platform technology usage in platform relationship management.
How do an alliance firm's strategic orientations drive its knowledge acquisition? Evidence from Sino-foreign alliance partnership
In: The journal of business & industrial marketing, Band 34, Heft 2, S. 505-517
ISSN: 2052-1189
PurposeThis paper aims to investigate how a Chinese firm's strategic orientation impact its knowledge acquisition from its foreign alliance partners through governance mechanisms used in the Sino-foreign alliance partnership.Design/methodology/approachThis research first proposes an integrated model which links a firm's strategic orientations (entrepreneurial and market orientations), governance mechanism (contract and trust controls), and its knowledge acquisition together. Then, this research collected data from 198 Chinese firms involved in Sino-foreign alliances to test the conceptual model.FindingsFor entrepreneurial-oriented alliance firms, a moderate level of contract and a high level of trust are the most efficient uses of control mechanisms for Chinese firms' knowledge acquisition. In comparison, for market-oriented alliance firms, both contract and trust control mechanisms should be used at the moderate level to achieve maximum knowledge acquisition from their foreign partners.Originality/valueBy introducing a new antecedent for the choice of control mechanisms in the context of Sino-foreign alliance relationships, this study empirically finds a non-linear relationship between contract control and knowledge acquisition and confirms the significant role of trust in facilitating knowledge acquisition between alliance partners from the perspective of alliance firms in emerging markets.

Impacts of supply chain integration on product- and service-oriented mass customisation capability: the role of customer need
In: International journal of physical distribution and logistics management, Band 53, Heft 3, S. 354-377
ISSN: 0020-7527
PurposeThis study aimed to investigate how different supply chain integrations (SCIs) (i.e. information integration and organisational integration) would impact product- and service-oriented mass customisation capability (MCC) differently and the moderating role of characteristics of customer needs (i.e. customer need tacitness and diversity).Design/methodology/approachFrom the perspective of information processing theory (IPT), the authors tested the hypotheses using survey data from 277 Chinese manufacturers.FindingsThe findings indicate that both information and operational integration contribute to product- and service-oriented MCCs. Operational integration promotes product-oriented MCC more, whereas information integration has a greater impact on service-oriented MCC. In addition, customer need tacitness negatively moderates the impact of operational integration on both product- and service-oriented MCC. Customer need diversity negatively moderates only the impact of operational integration on service-oriented MCC.Practical implicationsManagers should focus on not only the position (internal or external) but also the function of SCI when making decisions towards enhancing MCC. Diverse abilities to integrate with different functions are associated with different MCCs.Originality/valueThis study distinguishes between product- and service-oriented MCCs and provides novel insights for understanding how to enhance MCC from a SCI perspective.
Family-supportive supervisor behavior and employees' workplace deviant behavior: Moral disengagement as a mediator
In: Social behavior and personality: an international journal, Band 50, Heft 7, S. 1-12
ISSN: 1179-6391
Workplace deviant behavior causes not only physical and mental harm to employees but also great losses to the enterprise where they are employed. Drawing on social cognitive theory, in this study we explored the mechanism of family-supportive supervisor behavior on employees' workplace deviant behavior. Analysis of data from 312 participants showed that family-supportive supervisor behavior negatively influenced employees' workplace deviant behavior, and that moral disengagement played a mediating role in the relationship between these two variables. Our findings not only enrich the literature on family-supportive supervisor behavior but also provide a reference for organizations to identify, prevent, and control employees' workplace deviant behavior.
Learning behavior, environmental awareness, and agricultural waste management of banana farmers in China
In: Social behavior and personality: an international journal, Band 50, Heft 5, S. 1-11
ISSN: 1179-6391
Chemical packaging waste from pesticides in agricultural lands may cause chronic environmental pollution and health issues if disposed of inappropriately. Using data collected from 632 banana farmers in China through stratified random sampling, we employed the endogenous switching probit model to estimate the relationship between learning behavior and farmers' environmental awareness, and the treatment effect model to examine the association between environmental awareness and farmers' chemical packaging waste disposal behavior. The results show that farmers who participated (vs. did not participate) in self-learning and social learning had greater awareness of environmental protection. Additionally, farmers with greater (vs. less) environmental awareness tended to dispose of chemical waste at appropriate trash sites, underscoring the positive role of environmental awareness in the management of pesticide packaging waste for promoting sustainable agriculture. Implications of the findings are discussed.

Using a Trust Inference Model for Flexible and Controlled Information Sharing During Crises
In: Journal of contingencies and crisis management, Band 18, Heft 4, S. 231-241
ISSN: 1468-5973
The fluid, urgent nature of crises requires flexible, responsive information sharing. Recent studies show, however, that in business catastrophes and other kinds of crises conventional access control mechanisms favor security over flexibility. Our work addresses these seemingly contradictory needs for security and flexibility and designs a trust inference model based on fuzzy logic, a model that can be used with pervasive computing technologies using sensors and mobile devices. Drawing upon research on trust, we design a trust inference model using attributes of affiliation, task performance, and urgency; apply the model to a known crisis; discuss implementation issues; and explore issues for further research. This article is dedicated to Alan Jarman, a founding influence in the Journal of Contingencies and Crisis Management who died in Canberra 15 July 2010. Alan's quantitative, engineering background and his long standing commitment to improving crisis decision making prompted him to encourage our applying fuzzy logic to crisis information sharing. We are grateful for Alan's encouragement and advice.
