The impact of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) on workers in both the United States and Mexico is bound to be enormous. Ever since the negotiations began, a great deal of attention has been devoted to attempting to predict the amount of job loss or growth on both sides of the border. The irony is, however, that there is no consistency to the projections, particularly when the question is concerned if increases in manufacturing employment in Mexico will offset the job loss in agriculture that will result from complete liberalization of the agricultural sector.
