Renewal of self-awareness in the process of democratization
Annotation. The essence and content of such concepts as "national identity" and "self-awareness" from a historical perspective has been researched of the present article. And also reveals the features of these phenomena from the theoretical point of view of philosophical and humanitarian science. Consequently, there are ideas that in the life of these diverse ethnic groups, on the one hand, there was a desire to preserve peculiar traditions and their socio-historical experience, and on the other hand, there was a process of assimilation of common norms, ideas and values inherent in the new association. Naturally, the opinion is emphasized that the formation of ethnic units took place in accordance with socio-historical, geographical, ethnological and integration laws, as well as changes in worldview, consciousness and self-consciousness.
