Summary In this article it will be asked what geography, as described by the BDSM (Bondage, Domination, Sado-Masochism), and what a semmiological analysis of BDSM images gives to the city, in terms of the porosity of the private and public spheres, but also in a confusing confrontation between the banal and the extraordinary. Antagonistic theoretical proposals on the issue of the BDSM will be considered, followed by the major input of North American writers. A second step will highlight, in what appears to be a revulsion of the sexual into the public space, the numerous differences in readings and the reversal of symbolic order which are at work in events such as Folsom. ; International audience In this article we would like to question what the geography, as a discipline, have said about BDSM (Bondage, Domination, Sadism and Masochism). This work will be deployed in two phases. The first will consider conflicting theoretical proposals on the issue of BDSM and underline the major contribution of the North American writings. The second step will traduce a revulsion of sexual pratices and representations in the public spaces, and a reversal of the symbolic order in events like the FOLSOM. ; Summary In this article it will be asked what geography, as described by the BDSM (Bondage, Domination, Sado-Masochism), and what a semmiological analysis of BDSM images gives to the city, in terms of the porosity of the private and public spheres, but also in a confusing confrontation between the banal and the extraordinary.
