Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to explore the meaning of quality of life of elderly tobacco farmers in the perspective of agricultural nursing.


Design/methodology/approach
This was a qualitative study with a descriptive phenomenological design conducted in rural area of Jember from November until December 2013. Seven elderly tobacco farmers participated in this study by purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interview and analyzed by using a qualitative descriptive method.


Findings
Six themes emerged from data analysis included physical condition, psychological condition, activity level, social relationships, environmental condition and worship activities.


Practical implications
The role of agricultural health nurses should be optimized to improve quality of life of elderly farmers by promoting the health status of elderly farmers and the health of workplace environment.


Originality/value
Elderly tobacco farmers reported decreased health and decreased energy and vitality. Tobacco farming was considered giving heavy workload, especially during harvest season. Participants were still actively participating in activities conducted in the community and eagerly doing worship activities. The environment conditions were described as the easiness of transportation, affordability of health care facilities, safe environment and tobacco storage effects during harvest season.

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) is still one of the main health problems in Indonesia. Various efforts have been made by the government to handle the TB problem in Indonesia, one of which is implementing a direct observed therapy short course (DOTS) program. However, the handling of TB disease in Indonesia, especially in rural areas is still not optimal. This study aims to explore barriers to the handling of TB in rural areas from the perspective of public health center professionals.Methods: This study is a qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. Sampling was done by purposive sampling with a sample of 8 participants. Data is collected through focus group discussions. Thematic analysis is carried out using colaizi step.Results: This study obtained two themes. Theme 1 is the barriers in the aspect of TB patients and Theme 2, which is barriers from the aspect of health care facilities.Conclusion: This study obtained two themes. Purpose
This study examined the influence of traditional dance "Molong Kopi" for maintaining health status of older adult (OA) in long-term care of Indonesia.


Design/methodology/approach
A randomized control trial study conducted 21 of OA intervention group and 20 of OA control group. Molong Kopi dance intervention was carried out for eight weeks. Health status was measured on blood pressure, risk for fall, balance and quality of sleep of OA.


Findings
There was a significant differences between the intervention group and the control group on systole blood pressure, fall risk and sleep quality (p < 0.05). The number of OA who were not at risk for fall after the intervention were increased from 14 to 38%. The quality of sleep of OA was also changed to good sleep quality from 43 to 90%.


Originality/value
Molong Kopi dance in OA can reduce systolic blood pressure, reduce the risk of falls and improve sleep quality better.
