Abstract
This paper uses assemblage theory to consider the work that community does in a residential neighborhood in Toronto, Canada. It utilizes assemblage theory and connections between assemblage, affect, and emotion to advance an understanding of how community shapes capacity and action. The analysis shows how community has been enacted on the Islands, what actions and tendencies this assemblage makes possible or likely, and what it constrains. It also contributes to understanding what assemblage analysis can do. The mechanisms by which desire is channeled toward certain kinds of actions in the assemblage include the performance of community for self-preservation, the use of history and memory in the making of the community assemblage, and the role of territoriality, identity, and belonging in community-preserving actions. The analysis also reveals processes of stasis through reification of the assemblage and its interdependence with other processes like racial capitalism. Finally, I propose possibilities for shifting the assemblage, including telling different histories, and greeting emotional intensity experimentally. Seeing community through the lens of assemblage enables us to ask different questions, which may help us build the communities we need for a more just future.

This article mobilizes a Spinozo–Deleuzian understanding of affect to articulate connections between embodied sensation and academic thinking, connections which surfaced during my ethnographic and autoethnographic research as a circus performer. I argue against reifying differences between the production of knowledge and of movement, suggesting we explore similarities in the conditions of their emergence including reflection, multiplicity, and responsiveness to repetition. In so doing, I challenge hegemonic ideas about who belongs in the body of an academic; inviting us to better understand our "less-rational" and more collective selves in becoming purveyors of academic knowledge.

The current approach to clinical placement training for nurses excludes students with disabilities. The purpose of this article is to introduce a four-step model for nursing programs to identify clinical essential requirements – specific skills and competencies students must gain during placement. Engaging this four-step model will allow educators to identify how essential requirements can be achieved in a variety of ways, and thus can involve accommodations. It will also allow for the identification of which essential requirements cannot be accommodated and must be demonstrated in a prescribed manner due to impacting the nature or integrity of the task. Analyzing clinical essential requirements using this framework will create a consistent and defensible method to determine the flexibility or inflexibility of clinical tasks. The framework provided requires a collaborative process including key experts, nursing students and nurses with disabilities to comprehensively address the challenges clinical environments pose to inclusiveness.

Building on Deleuze's theories of the becoming of bodies, and notions of the geographic maturity of the disabled body we formulate an emplaced model of disability wherein bodies, social expectations and built form intersect in embodied experiences in specific environments to increase or decrease the capacity of disabled children to act in those environments. We join a growing effort to generate a more comprehensive model of disability, which moves beyond a binary between the individual and the social. Drawing on in-depth case studies conducted with 13 physically disabled children, we consider the intersections between their primary environments (homes, schools and neighbourhoods) and the multiple subjectivities they embody. Ultimately we make a case about the importance of responsive, situated models of subjectivity for the development of adaptations, and that physical and social adaptations must respond to these children's complex and varied needs and desires.

Disabled students often face challenges in effectively meeting their learning and practicum requirements, even though institutions have policies in place to support access. Practice-based learning helps to ensure students have acquired sufficient practical knowledge of the field. It is used in many disciplines for effective skill development, and is mandatory for some accreditations, particularly in healthcare professional training. A wide array of documents (information artifacts) has been produced in connection with efforts to mitigate practice-based- education access barriers. Organizational challenges, including availability and distribution of effective documents, have led to ongoing inaccessibility. In this work, we put ourselves in the shoes of a student and imagine what documents would appear if a student were to self-search for resources that were available on the internet. We assembled a corpus of such documents [n=43] and conducted a qualitative analysis of document form and content. Three themes emerged from the form of the documents: (1) across all artifacts reviewed, students were absent from production and authorship; (2) limited documents were directly related to practice-based education; and (3) higher education institutions grapple with tensions in the choice of media as this selection can affect how the documents operate within their communities. Looking at the content of the documents we found that (1) barriers to access are often described as the responsibility of the disabled student; and (2) the vast majority of documents require, expect, or presume disclosure of disability status to be a prerequisite to access, revealing a reliance on a medical/individual model of disability. We conclude with a reflection on how the form and content of the documents may shape disabled students 'experiences in practice-based education.

Introduction: Despite legislation mandating accommodation policies in higher education, support for learners with disabilities is often not implemented within health and human services (HHS) education programs, particularly in fieldwork settings. This paper will describe the protocol of a study aimed to (a) explore challenges and opportunities of current practices for supporting learners living with disabilities in a fieldwork context, across 10 HHS programs; and (b) develop, pilot and evaluate innovative accessibility practices to decrease existing barriers faced by educators and learners. Method: Using a critical disability studies framework, we designed a national, multi-profession, mixed methods design. Data are collected through interviews (qualitative) and an online survey (quantitative) that participants complete prior to the interview. Additionally, an online mapping diary is used to facilitate the understanding of accessibility in fieldwork education from the perspective of the learners. Participants include learners living with disabilities, academic fieldwork coordinators, fieldwork educators, accessibility advisors and professional organizations representatives. Implications: Learners living with disabilities navigate systemic barriers: (a) the additional "work of being a disabled learner", during a rigorous academic program, and (b) absent or inadequate fieldwork accommodations. Exploring those systemic barriers as faced by all partners offers the potential to develop strategies and tools to foster inclusive and accessible HHS education.

Objective - To combine insights from multiple disciplines into a set of questions that can be used to investigate contextual factors affecting health decision making. Background - Decision-making processes and outcomes may be shaped by a range of non-medical or contextual factors particular to an individual including social, economic, political, geographical and institutional conditions. Research concerning contextual factors occurs across many disciplines and theoretical domains, but few conceptual tools have attempted to integrate and translate this wide ranging research for health decision-making purposes. Methods - To formulate this tool we employed an iterative, collaborative process of scenario development and question generation. Five hypothetical health decision-making scenarios (preventative, screening, curative, supportive and palliative) were developed and used to generate a set of exploratory questions that aim to highlight potential contextual factors across a range of health decisions. ; During the writing of this paper, all authors were supported by doctoral (A.C., H.W., S.W., M.M., L.S., E.S., C.L., R.M. and J.B.) and postdoctoral (M.E. and J.E.) fellowships from the Health Care, Technology and Place (HCTP) Strategic Training Program, funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Supporting Institutes (Knowledge Translation Branch, Institution of Health Services and Policy Research, and Institute of Gender and Health).
