China: The law for the protection of the handicapped

According to a random survey conducted on the national population of the handicapped in 1987, it was estimated that there were 51.64 million handicapped persons in China. The article highlights the major provisions of China's new Law for the Protection of Handicapped People, which was adopted by the 17th session of the seventh National People's Standing Committee on December 28, 1990 and came into force May 15, 1991.
