The post-Soviet period of Moldova's history was complex and ambiguous. It was characterized by a difficult socio-economic situation, important transformations of the foreign policy, malign influence of corruption, mass departure of the able-bodied population outside the republic. Recent years have not been an exception. The turbulent events of 2016‒2020, which are analyzed, became a new important stage in the life of Moldova, solidifying the trends of its development in the next decade. The authors analyze the key events of this period, of its domestic and foreign policy: the issues of the creation and functioning of a broad coalition in the summer of 2019, its collapse, the formation of a new coalition between socialists and democrats, the presidential elections in Moldova and their impact on the political situation. The authors note that the recent trends in the political development of Moldova and its foreign policy show that in the near future political instability in the republic will continue. The question is if, in the context of internal political polarization in the country, it will be possible to reach a geopolitical consensus around Moldova and prevent the acute political confrontation in the country from turning into a long-term political and institutional crisis.

This article examines the influence of conservative think tanks on the integration of rightwing forces in Italy and the countries of the European Union, and how such centres participate in the ideological development of Europe. It also analyses the trend towards the «Europeanisation» of the activities of national centres and foundations due to the increasing centralisation of power in Brussels and the influence of supranational institutions. On the basis of each European party there is an think-tank which collaborates with ideologically close national organisations. Recently, Italy has shown a growing influence of right-wing and right-populist forces. In 2022 the leader of the extreme-right party «Brothers of Ital» Giorgia Meloni was elected as Prime Minister, and the majority of seats in the Italian Parliament are also held by politicians from right-wing parties. The «Brothers of Italy» have several think-tank centres, which are engaged in cooperation with representatives of conservative forces from different countries of the European Union, development of ideology and education of young politicians to form the future governing class. The article uses concrete examples to examine how the creation of a conservative political network in the EU is organised and what place Italy takes in it

The article analyses special features in the functioning of the category "Event" in Leo Tolstoy's novel "War and Peace". Eventivity is considered both at the level of "mental" (related to the personal experiences of the characters) and "historical": in both cases the narrator uses the concepts of "chance", "causality" and "necessity", the meaning of which varies depending on the context and, importantly, are realised in the poetics of the novel narrative. In order to analyze the paradoxical nature of the event in War and Peace, the concept of "contingency" is used to take into account the complex relationship between "freedom" and "necessity" in the structure of the novel.

In Russian society, women make up the majority, but their share in the Russian parliament as of 2023 is 19.6%, which indicates a persistent gender imbalance. The article is based on the results of quantitative biographical analysis and data on the presence of women in both chambers of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. In total, the positions of 383 women who used to be or are currently deputies of the State Duma or the Federation Council (from 1993 to the present) were analyzed. The authors analyzed not only the fact of the presence of women in legislatures but also their place in the parliamentary hierar-chy, their political habitat, their legislative activity and its orientation. The data showed a slow increasein the presence of women in legislative bodies, which is explained, in the opinion of the authors, by the presence of a «glass ceiling», which has not yet been overcome. One of the possible reasons is the policy of «gender tithing», which is when the political system allows an increase in the representation of women to a certain limit (at the level of 10–15%). There are still political zones that are practically inaccessible to women (these are issues of foreign and defense policy), and the influence of the «weaker sex»on poli-tics, although expanding, still remains within the traditional roles associated with the regulation of social policy, issues of motherhood, childhood, ecology, tourism, sports. Such an approach hinders the integra-tion of women into the political process and needs to be adjusted in the interests of gender equality.

The October Revolution of 1917 in Russia had a great impact on art in general as well as on its practical aspects. The clothing, in particular, underwent a remarkable transformation. Due to shortages, on the one hand, and the change of ideals, on the other hand, the official "high fashion" initially had almost died out and later was reborn in the new forms that reflected the new requirements. Mass production, preference for simplicity and ease of manufacture to the detriment of the uniqueness and emphasized aesthetics – those were the main tasks in that area. And especially unexpected with such an approach can be considered the victory of the costume collection of Nadezhda Petrovna Lamanova's dress collection at the "International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Art" in 1925 in Paris was quite unexpected. Nadezhda Petrovna was a fashion designer of an aristocratic background and had formerly the status of the Emperor's court supplier. She was not only able to change the style dramatically but also to create such an indigenous collection that even the sophisticated French panel of judges highly commended the national tint and the functionality of her work. The article gives an account of the life and creative activity of the fashion designer and we also reviews the documentary heritage of Nadezhda Petrovna Lamanova at the A.A. Bakhrushin State Central Theatre Museum.

This review is devoted to the analysis of a new textbook on the history of Russia in the 18th century, published in 2021 at the Russian State Humanitarian University. under the authorship of the teachers of the Department of the history of Russia in the Middle Ages and Modern Times of the faculty of history of the IAI RSUH, professor I.V. Kurukin and associate professor E.A. Antonova. The review emphasizes the importance of this manual for the organization of the educational process at the RSUH, notes the fact that it reflects the latest achievements of Russian historical science in the study of the 18th century. The appearance of this manual is especially necessary to provide students with the opportunity to independently study the disciplines of national history. It is noted that facing the reduction of the academic hours in historical curriculum observed in recent years, the students are forced to solve many issues and problems related to the study of national history on their own. Thus, the issue of providing the educational process with high-quality and modern textbooks containing not only reference and informative material, but also the necessary tools for testing knowledge is acute. Educational publication of I.V. Kurukin and EA. Antonova thereby contributes to the intensification of learning – on the one hand, and on the other – to rising envolvement in the learning process itself. The review provides a brief analysis of the scientific path of the authors of the manual – I.V. Kurukina and E.A. Antonova, their most important scientific monographs and publications of articles are mentioned. In addition, a detailed analysis of the structure and specifics of this manual is given; its numerous advantages and some shortcomings are indicated.

Translation studies is a vast discipline inextricably linked to linguistics (including applied linguistics, psycho- and neurolinguistics), textual studies, literary criticism, semiotics, history, and philosophy. In her book, Professor Laura Salmon applies an interdisciplinary approach to research a wide range of topical issues in translation theory, discovering their origins and exposing the inconsistency of binary oppositions that have always accompanied it. The author's main objective is to create a holistic scientific model of translation, which includes theoretically grounded and effective strategies and techniques of translation activities.
