The aim of the article is to assess the impact of selected factors of systemic competitiveness of the Visegrad Group economies on the development of their non-life insurance markets in 2004–2020. The study analyzes the literature on the subject, as well as the methods of descriptive statistics and econometric analysis, for the needs of which synthetic indicators of the development of non-life insurance markets of the analyzed countries were constructed. Based on the conducted research, it was found that Poland's position within the Visegrad Group in terms of the development of the non-life insurance market was leading, despite the fact that the Czech Republic was characterized by the highest level of systemic competitiveness. Moreover, there were similarities between the markets of both countries. They were shaped in a positive, statistically significant way by the same components of systemic competitiveness (property rights and freedom of the labor market). W artykule opisano badanie zależności zachodzących między wybranymi wskaźnikami rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego a popytem na ubezpieczenia w Polsce. W celu przeprowadzenia analizy zbudowano model ekonometryczny, w którym za zmienną objaśnianą przyjęto wartość składki przypisanej brutto (zmienna reprezentuje popyt na ubezpieczenia). Natomiast do zbioru zmiennych objaśniających (reprezentujących rozwój społeczno-gospodarczy) zaliczono m.in. indeks ubóstwa, indeks niepopularności u wyborcy, indeks polityki stabilizacji, składowe Human Development Index – HDI (wskaźnik oczekiwanej długości życia, indeks edukacyjny, wskaźnik dochodu) oraz subindeksy Index of Economic Freedom – IEF (m.in. prawa własności, obciążenia podatkowe, wydatki rządowe, wolność biznesu, wolność rynku pracy, wolność handlu, wolność inwestycyjna, wolność finansowa). Przyjęty zakres badań przypada na lata 2004–2019. Modelowanie ekonometryczne zostało wykonane w programie Gretl.
Na podstawie analizy ekonometrycznej stwierdzono, iż spośród czynników rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego to indeks edukacyjny, wolność rynku pracy, wolność handlu i wolność inwestycyjna najlepiej wyjaśniały kształtowanie się wartości składki przypisanej brutto w Polsce w latach 2004–2019. Wartym zauważenia jest fakt, że negatywny wpływ odnotowano tylko w przypadku indeksu edukacyjnego.
