V prvním letošním čísle Mezinárodních vztahů vyšel článek Tomáše Profantas názvem Rasizmus v rozvoji a rozvojové spolupráci. Publikování textuspustilo živou diskusi, kterou se redakce rozhodla podpořit oslovenímněkterých dalších autorů a autorek a transformovat do podoby diskusníhofóra. Jednotlivé příspěvky, které na rozdíl od Profantova článkuneprocházely plnohodnotným recenzním řízením, se tak vyrovnávají sargumenty a metodologickými postupy původního textu, rozvíjejí jej alokalizují do místních podmínek či poukazují na empirické příklady, jež jejpotvrzují. Celé fórum uzavírá odpověď Tomáše Profanta na jednotlivévznesené připomínky. Byť fórum reaguje na konkrétní článek, doufáme, žeby i tato diskuse mohla přispět k širší reflexi práce s konceptem rasismu ajejí implikace pro politickou praxi. Věříme, že právě v tomto je tato debata vsoučasném akademickém i politickém kontextu velmi aktuální.

Development cooperation or aid is often perceived as a form of charity or agood deed that is being carried out only with the best intentions. Racism,on the other hand, is most often connected with right wing extremism(even though in Slovakia it is connected also with the wider political center).The basic assumption of this theoretical article is the opposite. One can findracism also in development and development cooperation. The article triesto answer the following question: What are the main forms of racism indevelopment and development cooperation? On the basis of the extant andmy own research the article categorizes the forms of racism in developmentand development cooperation and identifies the three main ones:development discourse, structural racism connected with the raciallydi!erentiated global capitalist system and an everyday racism connectedwith racially biased institutions. The conclusion poses a question regardingthe way one may fight these forms of racism and briefly answers it.

If democracy is a discussion, then the exclusion of radical leftist economic perspectives may hamper democracy. Does this exclusion take place and if so, how? In this case study an analysis of the discourse in the Slovak evening panel discussion Dinner with Havran shows the various ways in which the exclusion (and marginalization) of such perspectives is achieved. This exclusionary discursive practice is then explained through interviews with the team behind the show and the norms and constraints that guide the production of the show. The analysis is based on Stuart Hall's critical paradigm and, confirming Hall's insights, it argues that the show is independent from the dominant political and economic forces in Slovakia, yet at the same time the show contributes to the functioning of the Slovak public broadcasting service as an ideological state apparatus that is biased in favor of the interests of economic elites.
