Mehr Mut, Deutschland! Die Welt braucht einen neuen wirtschaftlichen Hegemon

In light of the US's half-hearted attention to global economic leadership, Germany should take on the role of the new economic hegemony to maintain the globalization from which it & other nations profit. The world needs a large, democratic, rich nation to fill the gap & avoid further fragmentation of the global economic sphere, potential regional block conflicts, & further frustration on the part of citizens of the developing world. This role would be a familiar one for Germany, who was a primary supporter of the now self-sustaining EU. It is now time for Germany to define itself beyond its relationship to France & the US. The global economy is adapting, & Germany can be the voice of economic reason & model of self mastery, as evidenced by its leadership roles in the environment & energy, initiatives that should not be hindered by the current economic issues. Germany has more to fear from the global integration than global competition. L. Kehl
